The detailed mapping will depend on the software you purchase and not the PDA, Navteq have the best maps and recently completely mapping all of Ireland, the latest version of the AA's Navigator program is the first that includes the new Irish maps, Copilot and Navigon also use Navteq and new versions from both companies are due this summer.

I would avoid anything that uses TeleAtlas maps if you want good coverage of Ireland.
