'Scuse me while I wipe up the coke that just blew out my nose!

I think you'll be hard pressed to find a more willfully innaccurate website that shows no reguard for the truth than indymedia. I think the word radical is the only one they used in their self-discription that is in any way close to the reality. They also seem to act as a mouthpiece for Residents Against Racism, and will push their own agenda in every single acticle. Truth?

The people on indymedia think they're cooler and more right-on than the rest of us.

Seems to be a forum for all sorts of nutters to rant about whatever is keeping them from doing an honest day's work.

Its a group of lefties interpreting the world to suit their point of view.

I've seen the same usage of the word "truth" from the far right aswell... dogmatic horse-shíte.
Truth is fine as long as you're open to facts that don't support your view... but from what I've read from indymedia over the past few days, especially in the comments section, they're in their own little world.

i thought it was started by Irish anarchists for anti globalisation issues -- seems to report on any left wing issue now.

Mike65 sums it up, however as a site it is good for jumpstarting into investigating a story.

They also get some good stories sometimes. The O'Connell street riots for example was pretty well documented.

The main issue I have with it is that a lot of people take the comments added to stories as truthful as the story itself.

I'd rather read indymedia than the daily mail and half of the other papers out there!

I didn't realise that reading some form of bull**** journalism was mandatory. How's about not reading any of them?

I rarely do. The free metro on the train in the morning is the only paper I look at

I can't stand Indymedia. They come across as ultraleftie. Reds under the Beds kind of thing!

I was banned for a post where I said I disagreed with the hunger-strike. On many other occasions posts I made were deleted because they conflicted with the socialistic/anti-capitalistic viewpoints being expressed. The result is a blog where nearly every opinion is preaching to the converted.

I noticed that the other day - reading a thread then re-freshing the page and 'voila' anybody in disagreement with their radical viewpoint mysteriously vanished from the thread. No explanation whatsoever.

That kind of censorship always seems more fascist/big brother type behaviour to me.

People in other countries looking in on that site probably thought that the entire country was 100% behind those involved in the st pats issue. I had seen their site before on gulf war stuff and kind of thought fair enough getting direct access to the public bypassing 'corporate media' blah blah - after this week I would be very wary of anything that comes out of that site. And their habit of ending posts with the word 'solidarity' or 'comrade' is pretty silly imo.
