Astra 2 and Eurobird (28.2 East)

Sky Digital uses the Astra 2 satellites at 28.2degrees (Astra 2A, 2B and 2D), while the old Sky analogue service uses the Astra 1 satellites at 19.2degrees (Astra 1C, 1E, 1F, 1G, 1H and 2C). This isn't entirely accurate, but it's close enough.

For MediaCenter to pick up the channels, you need a DVB-S card, and you connect your satellite cable to this. The software that comes with these cards is usually set up so that you can select Astra 1 or Astra 2. However, here are the details for the stuff at 28.2: http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html, and here's the stuff for 19.2: http://www.lyngsat.com/astra19.html

    thanks lads

and bpmurray thanks for that link that is exactly what i was after

i got a dvb-s thet pretends its dvb-t card to mce

but i have to map the frequencies for the satllite stations to normal terrestial frequencies , then do a search for dvb-t stations in mce

(so far i can only get those stations with the women pretending to be masterbating for the guy on the phone to them)

got a problem using the normal 150mce card and the dvb-s card at the same time but i'll head over to the mce forum for that one

I know that Sky and Freesat broadcast from Astra 28.2E. I didn't realise but it's actually a group of satellites in one location. With the right size dish you can get it almost anywhere in Europe apparently. I set my dish up myself using a guidebook that was recommended to me called "How to get UK TV in Europe" - Saved me a small fortune and explained everything about setting up!
