Normally at 21:00 GMT they'll be about 30 people playing on the server, mostly Europeans, and fills up to 64 by midnight.

Nope it's not ranked. all unranked servers must have stock weapons according to their rules. I know a coupld of admins who figured out how to have all weapons on an unranked server but EA delisted them from the internal browser. I have no idea if it still happens or not though.

Fairy, you know when you're playing with mates, all on TS? Well it's pretty much the same thing but all squads are playing pretty much the same way. As opposed to just the one squad working together (the clan who run the server).

I was on GFF server last week as commander and 5 TiG players were in a squad, moving from flag to flag and I could do nothing to stop them as all of my lpayers were too busy fighting at hotel In TG if a commander asks a squad leader to move to a certain position then the squad moves, knowing that the commander has a better vision of how the battle is going. If you're defending a base and getting pounded you just need to ask the commander for air support and the JET or HELI squad comes to rescue you :-)

Of course some squad leaders are good enough to make their own decisions. the commander is there to make sure that people are defending important flags when he spots enemy forces moving in and telling the squad leaders exactly what he sees on the screen as opposed to spotting enemys non-stop for 20 minutes

I just wish that when I was commander on GFF that night that I could press my 'V' button and know I had 3 squad leaders who were listening and ready to follow what I had to say. Mybe then we would have won

Yeah. I think that their rules are too restrictive for some people here.

The elected or appointed in-game CO's (Commander) & SL's (Squad Leader) commands and directions are to be followed at all times;

So if a SL doesn't follow the CO's orders then he can be kicked (though it rarely happens). It may seem severe but doesn't happen when the CO is crap anyhow.

Players are not allowed into the enemy UCB for any reason other than for the sole purpose of destroying the enemy's assets (artillery/uav/radar).

All players are REQUIRED to PARTICIPATE in a SQUAD.

All players are REQUIRED to FOLLOW ORDERS from their squad leader and commander.

Squad Leader switching is forbidden.

True. It'd be popular at first and then people would slowly migrate back to other servers. TG has the same problem but they have a userbase of thousands, so finding 64 players on any one evening is kinda easy for them.

Both ventrillo and TS kill gameplay to a certain extent on public servers.

I often play on servers listed in this thread only to find 10 people on TS but all on opposing sides. Sure it's fun to be able to chat to everyone but not all that great if you want to actually use it to win the game. Besides, it isolates other members in the squad.
