I'm getting a 2nd hand Laptop (a Toshiba that's about 6 years old), and was thinking of getting some external memory for it. I'm not sure of the RAM on the Laptop, but there's only about 8GB of hard drive on it. If I was to get an 80GB external memory would it work?

Yes, but it probably only has USB 1, which means using an external hard drive will be slow.

Ya I'd definatly recommend a PCMCIA USB 2 card. Running a hard drive of USB 1.1 would be very slow
