what did u guys think of the gig?

TBH i was a bit dissappointed (i will probably get shot for saying that :D)

Its the fact that i suppose i dont like the new sepultura and inflames stuff

i though behind space was the best song preformed tonight, i love I.F's 1st two albums, my favourite

what did u guys/girls think of the gig overall?

1 thing i will say - it is great to see bands like this play here and i am happy for that, i waited 6 years to see inflames in ireland

Right well I'm not a big fan of Sepultura and I only know a few of their songs but I gotta say that put on a great show. Their preformance was brutal, in the metal sense that is, and I was really impressed. Still not my kinda stuff overall but you can't deny those guys are good. Aslo Roy Mayorga on drums, holy ****! That guy was phenomenal!

As for In Flames, well I must say both I and all my mates thought the gig was absolutley fantastic. They played a nice mix between old and new material as was expected but they only played either the best or at least better know songs from the later albums so it wasnt as bad. They all sounded great, the vocals were far better than I had imagined they would juding by the live videos I've seen and the show itself was just top notch. Finishing with My Sweet Shadow, one of my fave In Flames songs, was definitly the icing on the cake for me anyway. :)

Well I went to see Sepultura. I was expecting to be disappointed because not only do they have no Max, but no Igor on tour either. Sepultura with no Calaveras' strange idea. But they really pulled it, an excellent show I think, they suprised by just hoe good they were. Even the new stuff off 'Dante XXI' that I hadn't heard before sounded good.
As fo In Flames, I knew very little of their stuff so I went with an open mind. They were great, they won themselves at least one new fan tonight. I agree Behind Space was the best of the set.
Didn't see Dagoba as they were over before we arruved and I've never heard em before. But f**k it, Sepultura & In Flames were brilliant. Can't wait til they're back.

Absolutely fantastic gig. Well worth the €30. Sepultura were very good, they showed why they have been one of the biggest bands in metal for the past 20 years. I loved all of their older stuff, the newer stuff to be honest bored the living crap out of me. Slave New World, Troops Of Doom, Beneath The Remains, and Arise were the highlights for me.

In Flames, well what can you say?! Absolutely fantastic. Their sound was the best I've ever heard in the Ambassador, which takes some doing. Their stage was cool as hell, and on top of that they were tight as hell. I was really impressed with Fridén's vocals, I have yet to see another metal vocalist put on such a good show. All in all they were brilliant, I really enjoyed Behind Space, Moonshield, Episode 666 and Embody the Invisable. I have to say the newer songs went down really well with me last night, I'm not the biggest fan of their newer stuff but it was really well done last night.

Hats off to In Flames, that was one of the best gigs I've seen for some time now...

Dagoba were pretty cool but, like Ricky Martin, they need to get a new song cos they'll only last so long playing the same thing over and over. They put on a good show though, great drummer, but the same sound every song just got a little boring by the end.

Sepultura... holy ****... they were just fantastic. They chose songs from their entire career and I thought the new material sat comfortably alongside the old classics and they covered a pretty big range of sounds for a one guitar band. Would have liked to hear Paulo a smidge louder though. Jamming out Lord of This World just made a special set very special indeed (when I saw them on the Beneath The Remains tour they played Symptom Of The Universe ;) ) because I love a bit of Sabbath. This was actually my first time seeing them with Derrick and what can I say, that guy kicks ass. I must also tip my cap to Roy Mayorga, for a stand in drummer who has been with the band a month or two, he was unbelievably ****ing tight. Top class. I really couldn't have asked for more from their set.

I had never heard In Flames before so I was unsure of what to expect. To be honest, they didn't do it for me at all. It seemed like most songs consisted of some kick ass riffs followed by Korn-a-like singalong big choruses which just didn't work for me. I liked the heavy stuff but the big-chorus thing got tired pretty quickly. They seemed like decent guys and the singer had a good sense of humour but... meh... just didn't make my balls jangle and the blinding lights were ****ing annoying.

    Seps ftw :)

Thought the sound for Sepultura was absolute crap, but they put on a good show, saw them play the temple bar music centre last year and the year before, so knew they probably would be good. If people get a chance to see them play there again, they should take it!

In flames were alright, didn't really know any of their stuff beforehand, but it was alirght, agree with above in that it was a bit too Kornish for me. The sound for most of it seemed pretty dire from where I was standing (behind the sound desk). Lead singer was cool though.

you see thats really their new stuff, their first few albums was heavy as hell.

personally i thought Fridén's vocals were pretty bad lastnight. I thought Inflames started off well be got a bit boring to the end

sepultura were ok....but didnt know hallf their stuff as i gave up after the roots album :D

but all in all it was well worth €30 to see 2 big metal bands play

I missed Dagoba altogether so I've no idea what they were like :)

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Sepultura. I thought it would be strange seeing them without Max and Igor but as others have said, the stand-in drummer was absolutely brilliant. I thought the sound quality was excellent on the songs that I recognised.

As for In Flames, I thought they started quite well, seemed to go a bit flat and then finished strongly. Again, a good mix of old/new songs though. Anders' voice held up well and he demonstrated his wacky sense of humour repeatedly. A special mention must go to his chastising of the security girl in the purple shirt for telling everyone to sit down.

All in all an excellent event, well worth the asking price!

What a gig, sepultura had the crowd going mad, they really ahd the crowd in their hands and made them go wild, was really impressed with them, the new stuff sounds class live i must say and "troops of doom" was amazing,id give the set 9 out of 10(would have been 10 out of 10 if Iggor was there).

As for In Flames i wasnt sure what to think of them at all really,i wasnt really familiar with their stuff at all so i thought that would have changed if i saw them live, but it didnt, they only thing that they had for them on the night was the lights, they were deadly looking but i was so disappointed at In Flames i left 5 songs into them and went for a drink.

Over all though it was 30E well spent,Sepultura put on a fine show,it was worth the money just for that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,606 ✭✭✭gline

i also left i think with 1 or 2 songs to go, what was the last 3 songs they played?

I left after 2 InFlames songs because I thought they were awful. Sepultura were amazing. Derrick took me and my buddy's flag and afterwards we gave out all the stickers and **** if anyone on here got any.
I thought the new stuff was brilliant especially Dark Wood of Error! Deac Embryonic Cells was ****ing nuts!! Loved it, met the guys afterwards.
Sepularmy Irelands first concert in representation went down great anyway!.

Sepultura were, as always and always will be, AMAZING!!! Derrek is twice the frontman Max was.

Didn't stay for In Flames because I don't give a flying f*ck about them!

Spot on, saved me writing a review!
If anyone saw, that was my flag that Derrick took onstage :D
We met the guys after in the chipper across the road (we decided to leave 2 songs into InFlames, best decision ever!).
    What a ****ing night!!

nah i dont agree, the drumming was amazing but the rest wasnt so good, i think inflames won the crowd more and in general i would prefer old inflames to any of sepulturas stuff.. Each to their own i suppose :D

Seriosuly guys, how could you be "disappointed" by In Flames? I mean not liking them in general is one thing but any fan (with enough cop on to realise that they would be playing some of their new material aswell) should have loved that gig.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 371 ✭✭Beer is Life

I thought it was a great gig, one of the best ive ever been to, with my 2 favorite bands of all time playing. Sepultura were absolutely excellent. I never rated Green as a frontman until last night. I just never liked his vocals, but damn, he was on fire last night. They should have been co-headlining the tour man.

In flames: ****, not since Sepultura back when I was getting into metal have I loved a band as much, but on the night, Sepultura blew 'em away. I mean they were totally outclassed. After Sepultura's set I was flyin' it, but 3 or 4 songs into IF's set, I got a bit bored and went to the back for some water and pretty much stayed at the back for the rest of the gig. I think the crowd felt the same as me, they were fairly quiet as Anders said a few times.

Well worth 30 bucks and great to see a quality gig like this sensibley priced

Anders got a few cool points from me for taking that nazi security woman down a few pegs :D

Really? Hrm, well I'd read that they played a wide mix on the last two tours so I was expecting it really. That said what they played off their new material wasnt exactly dire or anything its just that their older material is of course superior I guess. Meh, I guess if you went expecting a gig filled with all the older material you'd be disappointed, I'm just surprised anyone did though...:o
