How to make a short slideshow of photos with a song running in the background?

I want to make one that I can upload onto youtube, so it can be a variety of formats really. It shouldn't be too hard to do, would I have any software with XP to do this or can someone recommend me something to download?

I know this isn't really the right forum to post this in, but I couldn't find anywhere else on boards.

This can be done in Powerpoint...... it doesnt come with XP but is part or Microsoft office.

I've created picture slideshows before with an imported MP3 as music......
There may be some other free stuff out there which I am sure someone else will know about.
I'd say if you searched on Google you would be able to get some tutorials with demos.....

I was thinking powerpoint which I have, but I wasn't sure if the file would be something I'd be able to upload onto youtube?

Ther is an application called adobe premier that will allows to create a slide show with video, pictures and music. You can also burn this to cd or dvd and play it back and menus can be created.

Adobe Premier costs an absolute fortune......
Around $800 for the pro version.....
I dont know if you could upload the presentation-probably not.
Nothing else that I know of do be honest thats cheap or free.

Windows Movie maker is yer only man.

Comes free with Windows, can be a pain in the ass to use, but it does the job. And you should be able to save it as wmv so you can upload it up to youtube.

Photostory is your main bet. It allows you to choose photos, choose text to be on them, choose effects, choose music and then it is saved as a .wmv video file.
