Kate Moss is a wanker

Kate Moss bought herself a gold plated vibrator for $350.

Plenty of sites about it http://www.nypost.com/gossip/pagesix/60982.htm
    http://www.google.ie/search?q=%22kate+moss%22+%2Bvibrator&hl=en&lr=&start=10&sa=N

Thing that I always find strange is that there is no stigma attached to this in any reports. Its like a "you go GIRLLLL" thing. In sex & the city you see them all with vibrators and it is spoken in this "independent strong woman, I do what I want and don' t need a man" sort of tone. I could not imagine Joey & Chandler in friends swopping blow up dolls. You hear "all men are only after one thing", and the term wanker used as a term of abuse.

I just wonder if Tom Cruise (or Pete Doherty in this case) was spotted buying a $350 gold plated vibrating vagina, would he have been portrayed as a sad bastard?

I find it odd that so many women would deny masturbation and it is still taboo to many, yet many men AND women will openly joke or comment about male masturbation. But then there is no real stigma attached to the woman with a vibrator relative to a man who has a blow up doll or vibrating vagina. Seems it should be the other way around due to the taboo.

touched a nerve has it? Maybe you should wear sunglasses and a trenchcoat the next time you go into an adult shop, that way you're less likely to be recognized.

Heh heh heh.. the body of the story and the headlines are worlds apart.. or are they :D I do agree though, but I think it due to years and years of boys buying smutty porn etc - which makes the whole male masterbation scene seem dirty and not at all attractive.

Whereas girls are relatively new to the scene (within the media/publicised arena), and they don't have to do the whole dirty porn shop thing and/or ring stupid 1860 numbers.

We'll never have equal footing in this situation.. but then again, men do tend to get paid more so I guess it evens out

So, Kate Moss bought a vibrator, who gives a flying fvck? I'm sure a few hundred thousand other women bought vibrators on the same day.

I do get your point that is strange that there's such a stigma attached to male sex toys compared to there being very little around women's ones, maybe it's because vibrators etc. are things that can be used by a couple together whereas a vibrating vagina is simply a poor imitation of something a woman already has and isn't exactly something a couple are likely to use as part of their sex-play...

Yeah, but because male masturbation is already so openly accepted and talked about, the onus is on people to break down the stigma attached to female masturbation. Women are only just recently finding that it's acceptable to openly talk about what men have been allowed to talk about for decade/s.
If Tom Cruise was spotted buying a gold-plated vibrator he'd still be a legend. :D

is there a stigma attached to female masterbation? i don't think so...

    either way, who cares.

When a woman buys a vibrator, it isn't about masturbation, it's about empowerment.

You see women don't need men to help them do anything, they can do it for themselves.

    It's girl power!

That's why it's something to be celebrated.

When a dude has a **** it's because he can't get a girl, when a chick does it, it's because she doesn't need a man.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,312 ✭✭✭pbsuxok1znja4r

Also, I think the reason it'd be 'weird' for a guy to buy himself a masturbation toy is, well, what guy really needs one? Copy of a top-shelf magazine does the job, etc etc

^*shudder* that's one 90's phrase I'd hoped I'd never have to hear again

Men ****, they have wanked for years, and will continue to do so. They talk about it down the pub with their mates, they have been caught **** by their mother/father/girlfriend (tick as appropriate) at some stage, and its no big deal.
They wanked from the time they realised that their penis did not serve peeing duties only!
They use their hand, perhaps a glove, and the most expensive part of the whole ordeal is a bit of lube.

There is no money to be made from men ****.

Women, on the other 'hand' (no pun intended) are a marketers dream. The '**** is dirty' theory is still knocking about, but marketers know if they can make playing with yourself pretty, popular and powerful, that a lot of money is to be made,

Take a trip into Anne Summers, very few vibrators look like actual real life willys, because willys are ugly!

The vibrators in stock are pink, purple, they glitter and glow, they look like rabbits, lipsticks, and I have seen a few blue dolphins:) .

So thats the pretty part covered.

So, how to make them popular? Simple, make sure every attractive female celeb is rumored to have one, and tey get a testimonial that states how hooked they are on the thing.

Now for powerful, oh yeah, when discussing said product be sure to use words like "you go girl" and "girl power", "independent women", and " powerful sex godess"!

Bada bing, bada boom, you have a pretty, popular and powerful product that is going to make millions!

    Bravo!

if you dont need a man, why do you get men? bull****! if girl power is all about using a vibrator or feeling like you dont need men, then it seems to be kinda pathetic.

so if you do get a man, do you lose all your powers? can you fly?

Needing something and wanting something are two different things. Essentially a girl may get a dude when she wants one, but when she doesn't want the hastle, she's got her trusty vibe to see her through the night.

Anyway, I'm just saying it how I feel the media portrays it, sillysausages post says something similar but is putting it a better way.

(and I'm a chap, just in case there's any confusion)

I look at this the way i always have. People can spend their money on whatever they like. Its their money afterall. And as always people seem to think too much about what other people think (i.e. the whole masturbation topic).

Don't mind her connundrum i'm sure yours is lovely. Everybody here realises the two of you have probably had a row and we realise sillys saying stuff that she doesn't mean because of her anger with you at this present time. Hope you're well buddy.

Vibrators & dildos are nothing new. It is widely said women do not rely on visual stimulation but rather the mind/fantasies and the old dildo. There are plenty of porn mags for women, and with the advent of the net they can easily look at dodgy gay webiste, I have caught mates sisters histories while fixing their pcs full or porn. In college one girl caught another who spent hours on gay sites.

I agree with sillysausage, it is extremely clever marketing using this empowerment bullshi-t excuse for having a ****.
Maybe you should wear sunglasses and a trenchcoat the next time you go into an adult shop, that way you're less likely to be recognized.
THis is the old view. Blanked out windows and closed doors with bells to ring. Whereas the ann summers shop is like a welcoming mc donalds with open doors.

Men ****, they have wanked for years, and will continue to do so.
Same with women. It is taboo for reasons most do not even remember. It traces back to medieval times.

There is no money to be made from men ****.
The shops sell mags to men and vibes to women.

Do you think it also has something to do with the fact that men going to a strip club are seen as sleazy while women going to a chipendales show are all just out for a laugh?

Men are somehow perceived as more sexually threatening (understandable when u look at rape stats), whereas women arent.

As for the stigma attached to female masturbation, women aren't supposed to have the same 'needs' as men so why would we be doin something like that?! shocking alltogether!

Ah the poor girls leave them be, they are so needy, they need shiney things to stick places

I don't think it's as much about women not needing men, as the simple physical fact that women cannot practice penetrative masturbation without the use of an object (there wouldn't be a market for vibrators if you could do the same thing with your hand realistically would there).

Men can just use their hands.

Anyway - you may find that the onus on Kate having bought a vibrator is that she's split with Pete Scumbag or whatever his name is from Babyshambolic.

And anyway - indeed - who does care?

probably won't get her arrested. Unless she dips it in cocaine and sticks it up her ass. Which is entirely possible.

Apparantly she is back with him, what I find far more intriguing is ... the bigger the scummer you are, the more women you atract. A friend of mine who is a babe said to me that she is a sucker for Assholes, put her in a room with 1000 blokes and by the end of the night she will end up with the biggest waster !! haha :-)

I dont understand your problem rubadub - so the girl got her self a vibrator - hardly the first girl to do so now is she? Ever heard of the likes of ann summers and agent provacteur they sell thousands of the things. Do you prefer your women chained to the sink or something?!

I dont care about kate moss, I am just questioning the reasons why that there is no stigma attached to it. If Pete doherty got a blow up doll since he had no kate I think he would have been portrayed as a looser.

This "women can ride any man they want so it is empowerment" is bullshi-t, especially in this case, since that doherty lad has loads of groupies willing to ride him.

im assuming that you like most guys **** regularly and Im not calling you a loser for it - am a bit confused where this anger is coming from. Yes they called him a loser for buying a blow up doll thats entirely different to buying a vibrator. If I knew a girl who bought a blow up man id think she was a bit sad too!. Buying a vibrator is akin to a fells going out and buying himself a tube of lube and a porn magazine
