Can you guys give me a hand here. Ill be buying a car in a few months and ill have about 10000 max to spend on it. Im looking for something just for myself. Im not married and I have no kids so Im actually considering a 2 seater (Mazda MX-5) but really its a hatch back I should be be getting ;). Dont want a Saloon but if a…

Dont want a Saloon but if a Bargin BMW comes along then I will consider it.
It has to be reliable, not expensive to run, 1.6L would be the max engine size and it has to be a Petrol engine.

Ideally id want something not older then my current car (99 Fiat Sciento) and something that wont depreciate like a lead ballon. Some nice extras too would be nice, Alloys essential IMO

The Cars im looking at at the mo is a Ford Focus, VW Golf, Honda Civic...eh well that about it really at the mo, but im open to ideas.

SO any idea, Fire away.

Oh Also I would consider buying in the UK and importing it. In Fact thats what I intend to do unless I come up with a real deal here at home.

excellent, but if u can get the 1.7 id really consider it, needs the power to exploit the chassis

Yea the Ford Puma is nice alright (without the hidous spolier). Ford dont make them anymore am I right? Is that a concern for parts and the like.

What about an MG anyone?

not made any more but its just a nice fiddlyiesta so parts are fine (altho body panels might be harder to get??)

Ford do not make them anymore because they were based on the old Fiesta which they stopped producing in 2002.

Parts should not be a problem as there are plenty of Fiesta parts around.

The MG is ok just check that the head gasket as this is a notorious weak spot on MGs and Rovers on which they are based. Also the wary of trashed modified ones as they are very popular with the max power crew.

Having a look about the net there and the MG ZR is definately a classy looking car. It comes in a 1.4 version too which would be ideal for me. Cheap out too both here and in the UK.

My only concern would be a Reliability, Parts. Resale value would also be a concern.

If you are worried about resale value then it is best to avoid the MG as second hand values have taken a tumble since Rover folded.

The Puma is also available in 1.4 litre petrol. It is the same engine that is in the Focus so it is very reliable.

True about the resale value but I heard rumours that the MG brand is being developed again by some chinese crowd.

Also if they have taken that much of a tumble then I could land myself a really good deal if I went for one.

Hummm yeah with all those tyre marks on the road outside the guys house looks like a really well looked after car.

38000 miles but how many of those were while the handbreak was on smokin the front wheels....

Personally i dont like MG but i could see myself in that particular model (ZR or the other 75 V8 they were making a while back) but would have to add a few hundred CC. But 105BHP from a 1.4 is crackin.

Lovely GTO but the VRT is paid on it so add an extra 4 grand onto that.

TBH im very much leaning towards the MG ZR.

Remember lads wont be buying for a few months so im just doing a bit of homework here on whats available.

I just dont want to be the guy with the trusty old boring fiesta. Im young now so I might aswell have a bit of fun first before my hair falls out.

The MGF looks very nice too but a convertable in this country IMO is a waste of time. Do they come in Hard tops though?

I've seen MGF's with hardtops so yep you can get hardtops 4 them.
