How to cut roof slates

hi I'm fitting a velux style roof window shortly and would like to know the best / recommended way to cut roof slates. These are the modern 'man made' type slates. Thanks

Hi,

The two most common ways are a guillotine and a slate cutter (affectionately called Pac Man) if all your cuts are straight a scribe similar to cutting ceramic tiles will do the job.

No need for a slater's axe and stake for fibre cement slates.
