Irish Broadband Wireless is now available in my area. Should I go for it?

    It's the only company that offers any kind of Broadband to my area at the moment. What are they like? Thanks in advance.

    Based on previous threads I'd say stay well clear off them. Nearly everyone on here has had bad experiences with them.

    Yeah you'll probably be fine if it's new, they won't have started over-subscribing the base station yet :p

    Yes, but they will over subscribe it as soon as they can.

    Also it may well not have much backhaul and they'll only even start to think about this after it's overloaded.

    I've been with ibb for the last 5 months now and i know alot of people complain about them but ive only had one problem with them... and that was due to them sending a xmas email to about 5000 people on there mailing list lol bit of a problem but as for the actual broadband service its fine, never had a problem so far!!

    The Patrickswell area, Blaster. It's about 6 or 7 miles outside Limerick City. Would Wireless be suitable for online gaming?

    I had it for less than 2 months, after it going downhill quite soon after install <2 weeks, I cancelled and got them to remove the equipment off my property. Its a totally unreliable service and not suitable for online gaming whatsoever.

    I eventually went with Eircom, admitted its a dearer service but the 3mb line is sweet and I never have issues with gaming online. I play a lot of BF2 and have average pings of 20 to most european servers.:) :):):)

    Have you checked with Digiweb if you can get their Metro service? It's a better bet.

    It seems very difficult to deliver steady pings with wireless in practice, so I would say no it's not suitable for gaming.
