Tbh tho, I don't think that cat "needed" to be rescued. It strikes me as the kinda cat that would only settle for being rescued when it was goddammed good and ready, and woe betide anyone who tries to rescue it without the kitty's acquiescence...

Totally off topic cat story!

I came in to my conservatory this morning, where the door was slightly ajar (so our cats can get in) and I saw that a relatively big bird ( a thrush or something) had gotten in and couldn't figure out how to get out. This was a bad situation as two of our four cats were in the room, and they did not seem content with any sort of mutual co-existence pact between themselves and said birdy. Thankfully for the bird, they hadn't yet managed to execute him, due to the bird's uncanny ability to fly. I was able to grab the bird and chuck him out before he was killed and eaten. Just thought you might like to know.

And yesterday, I found a decapitated rat on my lawn.

Our cats do okay in terms of food. They get fed, so why would they need to gain hunting experience? Also, they kill rats and mice and birds in the garden all the time.

Besides, have you ever had to clean eviscerated bird up off tiles? Neither have I. And I don't want to!
