Does anyone know what variation of poker Wild Bill Hickok was playing when he was shot?
My money is on draw.. but it COULD have been stud?

was he not holding all the cards in his hand when shot? if so it couldn't have been stud. It had to be draw.

It was 5 card stud I believe, which one deserves to be shot for playing :)

All I know is that if he was playing today he'd be playing 6 card Omaha.

LOL it was five card something. He apparently died holding five cards. It must have been draw..... Unless he picked em up to throw them at his opponenet in a sneak attack :0)

Far from absolute fact, but the Wikipedia is usually good at this sort of thing...

"There are various claims as to the identity of Hickok's fifth card, and there is also some reason to believe that he had discarded one card, the draw was interrupted by the shooting, and he never got the fifth card due to him."

Interesting. So he had AA88 and he didn't get the last card. He probably knew he was up against a made hand and was shouting "Give me the bullet". :)
