A guy I know who's also a member of Boards *cough* Gator *cough*, got given out to in McDonalds for calling the fries chips, he left after his first day :p

Facists! Have these people never heard of freedom-fries of speech?

Well hey, a company that expects its staff to run around yelling "I'm loving it" can't be taken seriously. They're pretty strict about tiny little things like the fries/chips thing.

Another thing, why don't the have mayonnaise in the little sachets like they do ketchup, the jerks

That was so annoying, we'd get it every now and then back when I was in Maccies, always flew out, especially with all the French/Spanish/Italian students looking for it.

Never had anyone spit in my burger at mac Donalds!! My friend bought a burger from Hilbillies once though (this is true, I was there and witnessed it!).. She opened the burger to take out some of the lettuce and inside there was this big green insect squirming around in the mayonaise!! It was a really strange looking one with white stripes on it's back!!
Anyway.. we went back up to Hillbillies to speak with the manager and there was a big queue there, the manager came out (a big swetty fat guy) and said "Oh look, do you want a new one??" Everyone in the queue was disgusted and left without their food... She just got her money back!! It was discusting though!

That's one good thing, they'll give you a free anything if you complain.

I had numerous customers who would eat their fries on the try on the counter while I got their drinks (any McDs vets spot the problem with this situation for extra points) and then they'd ask for new ones beacuse "de box isn't full, bud".

They asked for my manager, who gave them the meal free and gave them new fries.

I have first hand experience of this. I won't complain in a restaurant whether it be mickie d's or the oval. If I have a problem I finish what I can and leave, never to return. Only place I won't do this is subway, as I love it too much not to come back.

I worked in md's and saw first hand the lengths people will go to seek revenge on a complaining unhappy customer. On my first day of training in clondalkin, one burger patty was used as a football, then dusted a bit and placed back in the burger. I think the customer didn't want pickle or something (surely a valid request ). I was surprised that it did not fall apart. Probably all the card board.

Point is you get idiots in absolutely every corner of society, to suggest otherwise is silly. Saw tons of other stuff. Never ever partook myself.

Funny, "mayo" in these stories usually refers to something else :)

I'm not one to be affected by these "put you off your lunch" stories but that one is just plain nauseating, I remember reading the original post ages ago and feeling sick :(

That once happened to me, I was eating in McDonald's with a few people and my sister was there too, and she ordered this Chicken Burger after in insisting she not (fearing of Avian Bird-Flu) Then we were talking about these urban legends while we were waiting for the food to be dropped down. Well bloody hell wasn't there a big chicken bluey-red vein in the Chicken Burger she ordered! We were disgusted! I remember in my earlier obese days about 3years ago before I lost a few stone, A Big Mac and super-sized fries would not fill me up :v: Thinking back I wonder what garbage did my body consume there. I was also told once that the "fries" chips to me and you ;) were not made out of spuds only some sort of dried powdery flour and included recycled Chinese newspapers. Any one see podge and rodge last night? they said the old one in the "Reduce- Re-use- Recycle" ad had the hots for your man and that sex with older women was the ultimate in recycling! I thought it was one of the funniest things I heard so for this year. They really made a great job of the show and their female assistant is very easy one the eye!

I know Supersize Me put a lot of people off Maccers, not me tho. That said tho they did describe how they make their chicken nuggets and I have to say I haven't touched one since (of any brand). Ya might as well be eating out of a bin as touch them.

Ive worked there and can honestly say this type of thing never happens. Truth is that even if you wanted to do something the place is too rushed and fast paced to get the chance. As for the chance of being caught doing it, if the average employee goes back to the kitchen during his break to swipe extra food the chance of a manager catching you is VERY high for some reason,* so as for spitting etc forget about it.

Mackers are so fcuking tight re free food. On your hour you get a medium meal (medium fries, coke and one of the 6 main burgers- Big Mac, Chicken sandwich/premiere/Fish Filet 1/4 Pounder) and on the small break you get a kids meal- small fries, coke and ham/cheeseburger. I got given out to once for taking a double cheeseburger on my 15 min break:rolleyes:

Never stopped me though, id never take only a single cheeseburger on grounds of principle and taste, cheap kunts.

all these stories are total Urban Legends,

I worked in BK for a number of years, and as previous ppl have stated its all talk.

The worst i think we did was the following:

A customer complained that they had asked for a burger plain with just ketchup, they were being very irate about this little accident so we decided if all they wanted was ketchup on the burger then they would get it. We covered the whole burger and bun with a mountain of ketchup, luckily the order was for takeaway. the customer never came back to complain........LOL:D it was so funny

The break meal thing depends on store, my one was a lot more flexible, took what we want really, rang though our own emp meals ourselves, etc etc. Was it a franchised place?

From working in Pizza Hut when i was younger, i can actually say they were cool about taking food home or on breaks. emlpoyee's were allowed 1 beer a day if desired and you were overage. and there was no messing with customer's food

However I do have friend who is a qualified chef who told me of trainee chefs jacking off into food when a customer complained and then there was other stuff he refused to go into details about

Leaving yourself open to that and the cold food by doing it the wrong way round and gettign the food first. (i spotted it straight off) they all do it that way now, its so annoying the food is half cold. If they're waiting on a grill they leave it in the fry station in a bag, that one really does my head in. Rant over.

there was a story going around a few years back about our local Mcd's, that a girl got an std in her mouth from a burger, and when said burger was tested there was "mayo" from three different doners found in it, now i am sure that its crap, but alot of people still believe it,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

McDonalds doesn;t bother me, never has.
The way I see it, they are too big a company, with too much money to lose through lawsuits to try anything.
Even what the food is made of, if they say it's 100% beef, real chicken or real potatoes, I'd be inclined to believe them.

The only bad thing I can think of is KFC. I liek it as much as anyone, but one day we got a bucket and some of the chicken was grey etc...basically, it was clearly evident that they were really getting what they could out of the chicken.
    Still go there though.

Think that story has been attributed to every store at one stage or another.

*remembers the days of sending back grills for chicken sandwich extra milk.*

It was funny at the time, kinda childish really.

mate of mine works in BK in ilac (not sure if he's still there...) and told me that mcd's and bk (they're opposite each other for those who don't know) shared the same air ducts, in which rats lived. the vents on either side were in the kitchen's too. the big trays with buns and stuff had the bottom part covered in rat poison to kill off the feckers.

i haven't eaten there since i heard that.
