    Hello,

I'm moving to Dublin from abroad and now I have to choose the broadband provider that will give good pings to gameservers outside Ireland :)

The wireless options seems pretty bad pingwise, so I guess the only option is ADSL if I want to play Battlefield 2 online. What providers do you people suggest for Dublin West (Blanchardstown)?

I never really experienced ping problems with my old Digiweb wireless connection, when it was working that is. 50-75 was normal.
I'm with NTL atm and I get 25 - 50 to all english and almost all european servers. Not sure what your options are in Blanch, but I'd go with NTL give half the chance, especially if the rumoured upgrades go ahead in lake Feb.

Thanks, maybe I will give NTL a try then :)

Eircom get better pings than any other provider from what i've seen. Other than Irish Broadband, but they're not even worth considering.

Is the ping rate package-dependednt? I'm on Esat BT, and I'm using the cheaper package (supposed to have gone to 2048/256 after the upgrade but I never got it)

When this upgrade actually comes my way, or if I upped my plan BT Broadband Plus, would that give better ping times?

the new packages do give different ping rates if your package works well... broadband home professional gives amazing pings IF your internet connection is performing well and homeplus is slightly worse but still very good IF its working rite.... ive been on both in the past 2 weeks and my connection is rotten but thats just me being highly unlucky.

I think the eircom packages just announced are good

I beat Eircoms but then again I have interleaving off and a 6mb line.

the 3Mbit package from BT is pretty good I must say.
5 ping to the BAF server for counterstrike
usually about 20 ping to a UK server

Eircom are solid though, IBB are not all bad.

Pinging a BF2 server on 2mb IBB breeze.

Oh yeah, I know that there are a good few people here on boards who get IBB and get amazing speeds with it. But there are so many people who despise them and get a woeful service that I don't think they could be recommended to anyone.

well it depends on where they are and what high site they would be on...doesn't cost anything normally to figure that sort of stuff out....
