I downloaded an old game after losing my disc by torrent last night and when I opened the .rar file, theres two files. A .bin file and a .cue file. I've tried just extracting them but it doesn't work.

Any ideas what to do because I'm hopeless at this sort of thing?

    As above - to extract
here or here - to burn, with Nero..

You can also mount the bin/cue using Nero.

    - It may be a multi-file archive, what size is the .rar file and what size does it report for the BIN file in it ? (If the BIN file is shown as bigger than the .rar file then you're missing part of the archive)

    - You do have WinRAR, right ?

I have winRar. The .rar file size is 320mb.

    I've got this far: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c312/UnitedIrishman/untitled3.jpg

My problem is that when i've extracted them and clicked on the main .exe file I've got "Error" messages. I have a feeling it's to do with those AFP files. What recognises AFP files?

Isn't rar a compression format? In which case you're unlikely ever to find the contents of the rar as being smaller than the rar file itself? ;)

I know what you're getting at, but your advice is a little confusing :)

I'd say if the BIN is waaay bigger, then it might be a multi-part.

I finally got the setup file to work after 3 hours of clicking.

    Anyways cheers again everyone.

While on the subject, I downloaded a .rar file which has an .avi movie file inside. I extract it but when I try to play it, it iwll not work.
Is corruption a common problem and is there anything I can do to fix it?
    thanks

you may need codec's for your movie player, if not get yourself a copy of File Repair Studio 2005 and try to repair the .rar file :)

If it was corrupted, you wouldn't be able to extract it.
You're probably just missing a codec.

    Gordian Knot Codec Pack

    should sort that out.
