Thats SEVEN countries in one year..SEVEN just how do you plan on achieving that ??, do you work for a living or are a "kept" person ?
    Tbh I'm very jealous!!

I'm a backpacker.. I work, I save, I travel. Plus I travel cheap. I fly cheap, I travel by bus or train or walk and I stay in hostels. Am planning on doing the Trans-Mongolian railway in April, island hopping in Greece sometime during summer and then Scandinavia in September/October. Oh yea, am going to Paris for a long weekend in three weeks :)

Someone has to do it, may as well be me!!

Puffaw, well I once walked the length of Russia. All I brought with me was a Centra shopping bag with a toothbrush, a spare pair of socks and an afro comb.*

Fair play to you though. I'd do the same except for the whole..y'know, being lazy bit.

*I haven't actually done this, nor do I have an afro comb or even an afro.
Although I knew someone who went to Russia just to get some snow for a snowball during the summer.

**I don't actually know anyone who did that. I'll just leave quietly now...

I counted 3 and a bit as I think the Isle of Man is not actually part of the UK, or something like that.

I can! Croatia to be exact.

    Just a thought -
if you were born before the 1920s in Ireland and had been in both parts of Ireland after partition, could you claim three countries?

I remember thinking "This is a sad little thread" when I saw it a few months back.

Now that I'm not sober, and its not little, I feel the need to post in it.
    1. Ireland & UK
    2. France
    3. Belguim
    4. Spain
    5. Switzerland (briefly)
    6. Italy
    7. Finland
    8. Serbia & Montenegro
    9. Tangiers
    10. FYR Macedonia (Hows that for Former Yugoslavia?)
    11. Greece
    12. USA (New York & Boston)
    13. Germany

Airport stopovers and all that jazz not counted, of course...

Scariest has gotta be getting into Serbia (since getting into Northern Ireland is no longer scary), coming north on the train from Skopje into Kosovo (still part of Serbia, but possibly soon independant) - fast asleep on a seat and I wake up and there are 2 soldiers in the car with AK's, not quite what you expect...

One said something in Serbian, then looks again and says "Pazporrt?"
After digging my Irish passport out and handing it to him, he takes one look, grins broadly, lets his gun swing and said "Ireesh! Hey!"

You never realise the value of that passport of yours until you need it in a different country, it's really a ticket to anywhere!

I couldn't get over how much easier your life becomes when trravelling with an Irish Passport, we must have done something right along the way...

    Hmmm, that might be-

    We've not invaded anyone.
    We never had colonies.
We exported inordinate amounts of doctors, nurses and teachers to the further reaches of the globe (and still continue to do so, despite the much enhanced employment prospects here via PARC).
We used to be known as the land of the thousand welcomes (before the Celtic tiger and begrudgery came to the fore).
We used to be known for our 40 shades of Green (before we became the slobs of Europe with illegal dumps every 500 yards (interspersed with illegal quarries)).
We had little but we were a happy people, and happy people are good to be around- we got on with most people, and most people got on with us......

Unfortunately, as many Polish people are finding out, our streets are not lined with gold and things have worn a bit thin. I think a lot of our good will with the rest of the world is inherrited good will, unfortunately our actions these days may well spoil it for those coming after us......
