    Simple fact is if you have Andrea Roche or Kelly O'Byrne in a skimpy outfit while "modelling" your product you are guaranteed to get the picture in a national newspaper.

    No saucy pictures mean that nobody gets to hear about your breakthrough anti-deafness product, or WTF you are selling.

    Attractive women are used to sell things. Attractive men are used to sell things. Sex sells and that's okay. The only difference is that most men don't judge each other on appearances whereas women can be extremely bitchy and cruel to each other about how they look. Unfortunately it's just part of the female psyche to constantly strive to look as good as possible, a constant struggle to lose weight, etc. etc. It's not even driven by men - it's other women that do it to each other. Most guys I know are going out with 'real' women - i.e. girls with curves. None of us would go near a skinny, model-looking dolly-bird in a pub because most of them are a) shallow bitches and b) trying far too hard to vie for attention and c) boring as hell.

    So don't worry OP... everything's gonna be aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalright.

    I'am trying to figure this thrad out. Is it

    a) A insecure girl ranting her hatred of Glenda, Roweeta, Dani and Katie. Just because Mags didnt think she was good enough to cut it in Assets.

    Which I doubt given the points made earlier. Is it

    B) About the explotion of people to sell products. Papers, phones, cars beer, etc etc,

    In thsi case it's not a locaised think. Sex is used to sell everything, everywhere, everyhow. I have seen scntly clad ladyies in both french, english and american papers. I'am honesty suprised some companys and magazines havent offered BJ's with there product. Look at Zoo magazine. They had a comp awhile back offering readers partners a Boob job. But undoubly the music industy is there worst for this Britney, Christina, Jessica, Madonna. Madonna would be no where no if she hadnt stated talking her clothes off years ago. Listen to her records THEY SOUND BETTER PLAYED BACKWARDS for Gods Sake. M

    C) WHY A ABSOULUTE DOG, LIKE GLENDA " THE SKANK" Gislson is in my paper every Fu(king day. I want to gauge my eyes out everytime I see satanic shaped eyebrows. Which is undobtfully the mak of the beast. I truly despise the assets girls everylast Louis vettoned bag one of em. The girls in work aked me recently which was my favorite of the Mags girls. My honest answer has to be the first one to die, and I hope the Mother and father are naear by to see it happen, As the make the Faux Pa of turning right, on a left handed runway and plummet to there death in the ocatra pit. At least as the fall they can die happy in the knowledge that they will be on all the front pages the next day. I'am sorry really i don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out. The company I work for thru a big day for the bubblegum club in croker a few months ago. As we sponser Brian "Chubby cheeks" O Driscoll. Guess who shows up with him. Altough I have little or no respect for O driscool. I will pay him his dues. He did spend timw with the kids signed there shirts, Posed for photos etc, etc. As for glenda. She hid in the corner on her phone and nly poped out for the prof photographers photos. Now here the killer the photos were only posted internally. The company never released a press relase on the day and no photos from it or strories about it surfaced in the papers.

    Just because she doesnt like to see women selling their bodies for money, doesnt make the OP insecure.
    Stop using that as a put down "oh you are insecure blah blah" I think she has a reasonable point.. And everybody has their own insecurities.

    What i am complaining about is the fact that i dont understand how the papers can think these cheap publicity stunts by the same old models can honestly be front page news. I dont mind the sun or the mirror having models on page 3 or whatever. But the indo,herald and the times surely as Irelands leading papers and what I presume are the top photographers they can have slightly better pics for the front page. Photography is an art in itself and a picture can tell a thousand words so cant we have some pictures relevant to some news stories then roberta rowatt kising a duck in stephens green for some stupid newbridge silverware promotion. Surely even on a slow news day a lovely picture of the sunsetting over dunlaoighre bay is better than these cheap models. it's just a lazy,brainless and cheap work by the editors or photographers,whoever is to blame.

    But     a paper is a Bussiness. It's purpose is to make money first and report the news second. Putting a picture of the Mrs. Doyle whos just repeated her leaving cert at 92, ans get 9 A1's. Might make a powerfull and insperational picture. But Mrs Doyle is not going to take out half a million euro's worth of ads out in the paper over the coming year, unlike say Newbridge Silver for Instance.

    I hate to see this happen and I object to it. In all realty the is no such thing as a free press. A paper no matter how just and impartial it tries to be will always put the needs of the shareholders first.We take a stance and slowly compromise and compromise again until we end up standing for nothing. Take a stand. Hit them were it hurts and dont buy the paper the day the feature katie or glenda or who ever, and make sure you friends dnt buy the paper and get them to make there friends not buy the paper, and maybe they might they might stop then.

    I agree she is probably better looking than your average irish girl.

    However,starn makes the point that newspapers are a buisness and must use these sort of promotions to keep them in buisness. Go to the U.S, england,france anywhere and none of them have these sort of shamless promotions to sell their credible, national papers. They make their money from the adverts brought by companies and then use this money to hire good photographers to take good photographs. You never see on the front of the evening standard or the english times these tacky pictures. What does this say about us as a nation, if the only thing to keep these papers in buisness is these cheap,pathetic publicity stunts?we live in an absolutely beautiful country, so cant we have a picture of the beautiful lakes in killarney to promote killarney tourism then these awful pictures of glenda standing in a bikini at the top of grafton street. When i said it was degrading,i didnt mean that its degrading for women,i think its degrading for us as a nation as a whole that the herald,times and indo must use this to 1)keep themselves in buisness and 2)that they think the nation want to see these cheap photo ops more then an intresting picture of dublin city for example
