    I have Dell's 6100A (104 firmware I think)

I wanted to flash it with 6500 modded bios to make it write - DVD media
    http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/6500.html

First I flashed it with 224 Liggy, it worked but Nero was giving me an error "write at once" or something like that.

after that I flashed it with the original, went back to 104

and then flashed it with Liggy 4.24

Now when I boot up my laptop, it says the device is unknown or cannot be identified. And I can't get past bios. The only thing I can do after that is to shut down. I have to take out the drive for the laptop to boot up.

Is it dead? is there nothing I can do about it? some bios tools or something?

Can I insert the cdrom while the laptop is on???

Try downloading the latest firmware from Dell's website.

If it is still no good, then things look bad.

If that's like most other dell laptops with modular drives, you can hot-plug the optical drive.

I plugged it in, but neither windows nor any other software(flasher and nero) detect it :(
