Most people that Im spending Christmas with dont actually NEED anything?

A new watch...that will gather dust in a drawer?
Novelty socks...the novelty of which wear off in a bout 1.8 seconds?
Perfume, electric gadget. etc its all the same

I reckon that unless you know that the person really wants aforementioned perfume/socks/watch and provided they're over the age where milk & mince pies have to be left out for santa, you should go to

    http://www.oxfamirelandunwrapped.com/index.html

And it'll give you that warm fuzzy feeling in your tummy ;)

Don`t ever get any poor child a bosco dvd you`ll only wind up tramatising them, having a puppet with a hand shoved up his ass and a bunch of hippies too ain`t anything any child should see...

See if you can email a History lecturer from your area and ask would it be possible to get a copy of all the syllabus notes he gives out in his course for a degree in history. If you tried a few lecturers one of them would give them to you. you can generally get their emails off college websites. Tell them it is for a final year research project for your course(only a little lie)and they will probably be fairly forthcoming. i did something similar with a different course for my ma and she loved it. That and go to the college to collect them so as posting quite a large volume of notes wont put them off helping you. Its a bit of trouble to go to that mightn't work out but i'd say he'd be pretty pleased you would go to that much effort and he'd really enjoy going over the notes and it saves you a bundle.

Right i'm in a bit of a pickle here, i need to get something really good for my gf. she's away at college in london studying drama and theatre so i dont ge to see her as often as i'd like and i really want to get her a great xmas present. i want something thats a bit different(no gadgets or the like) we're going away on holiday in january so a trip away is out. money isn't a concern. it was my birthday a little while ago and she got me the best present ive ever gotten. so i really want to make this special especially because i have to work a LOT over the xmas with it being end of quarter and all. so if anyone could help i would be in your debt. i'm really going insane trying to think of something.:v: actually if someone can think of the special something for her and i get it i'll give a cash reward or if you need an electronic engineer to do a job i'll do it for free(within reason)

You want people to give you a Special gift idea for your girlfriend. How can anyone who has never met you or your girlfriend give you a "Special idea". Your talking about something you can just buy arent you. How is that Special. Surely it should come from you and not from some boardie. How would your girlfriend feel if she found out her Special gift was some strangers idea and you just forked out the money.
Its sad when people feel that spending money is special.

Why not instead of spending your time on boards.ie sit down and think about your girlfiend and what she likes and the type of girl she is. I couldnt imagine not being able to think of a nice idea for my girlfriend unless i didnt know her that well.

    Make something for her

You aslo offer a cash reward.Where along the line did you sell your soul to "THE MAN"

I know my girlfriend would be sick if i was offereing cash rewards for her Special gift .
I know i would be pretty pissed off if my girlfriend was on a message board offering money for a gift idea for me. I wouldnt want whatever it is

Maybe if you didnt call it a "Special gift" and just "Gift" i wouldnt be confused by your request

    Hi,
I'm looking for a christmas present for my mother. She mentioned that a woman that she knows got this as a present a couple of years ago and that she would like it also.

She said it's a day where you get your make-up done and then get a photograph done as well as a facial. I contacted the woman that she was talking about and she said it was about 10 years ago that she got it done and it was in a place called 'Cover Story' beside Laura Ashley on Grafton St.

Does anybody know if this is still here or if there is somewhere else you can get this done?

    Thanks

Thry 'Colour Me Beautiful' Perfect present for the mother type. Experts tell your mother what colours suit her, hairstyles, make up etc. It's not cover stroy - they do makeovers for one day and a photo whereas colourme beautiful tell you what clothes suit etc

Where along the line did you sell your soul to "THE MAN"

17th August 2004 when i signed my contract to "The Man" or "Multinational Corporation" as they like to call it here.

Tbh you're being a little anal.

I have the "special gift"(ie: the lots of little things that she will love and they would do as "the Xmas present"), i need help getting something extra good if you get me? I really want to go all out as i'm sure most people would if they could for someone they love. tbh she's the kind of girl that if i gave her rainbow coloured socks she'd be delighted but her being a student in a different country and living the "student life" (ive been there) i know i would have loved to get really nice things for Xmas as i couldn't have gotten them any other time throughout the year.

My nephew lives in Sweden so we just get him Amazon gift vouchers - he LOVES getting 'Amazon Monies' because he can go online and pick what he wants. I think using the computer to buy what he wants is the most fun for him! :D

If she's in London, why don't you turn up unannounced one Friday evening, waiting outside her college for her. Have a nice restaurant and theatre booked and a night or two in a nice hotel.

The worst PC game ever created, if you love your borther DO NOT give him this. It will destroy his life and turn him into a hermit, living in his dark room for all of eternity :o .

I know that if someone wasn't sure what to get me and decided to purchase something from this catalogue I'd be dead happy. Much more worthwhile than a present I may not even use:
