Hi, I was given a new PSP as a gift yesterday. Giga pack? with wipeout, some other game and all the cables/stand/sound grip etc

Anyway, I am not too up on PSP and what its all about. I've been checking up on some threads on this forum to help me out.

Quick question, I presume you're talking about FW when you're referring to 1.5 / 2.0 etc?

How do I know what mine has been shipped with? Why should/do I need to upgrade? What are the pitfalls?

    Thanks all :)
    C.

The FW (firmware) is what version the software on the PSP is. With version 1.5 you can play all homebrew software, run Sony games from the memory stick. With 2.0 you can run alot of homebrew but its more awkward, you can't run games from the mem stick and but it adds a web browser to the psp. You can downgrade from 2.0 to 1.5, but not from any firmware later than 2.0.

To check what version you have go to system settings>system information.

    Thanks Ciaran.

I was playing about earlier and noticed the system settings menu and had a nose - its at 2.something, so maybe the game I've played (Wipeout) has upgraded, or the PSP came shipped like that.

Is it me or is the PSP with the sound grip, far more comfortable on your hands?
