And the winner is.........Ruth Scott on 2fm ! Id say 98fm were breaking their bollix laughin when 2fm "poached" her back ! She has to be the worst DJ out there at the mo, what does she bring to the table? Surely she cant be sooo popular with the bogger crew that shes given prime time slots? Discuss...

Followed closely by Rick O'Shea... remember their morning show? No wonder I was getting to work early!

LMAO....well I think the fact they lasted all of 6 mths together on air together says it all ! One was as bad as the other, the only useful thing they did each day was read out the headlines on the papers lol!

Don't know about worst DJ, worst broadcaster I have ever heard in my entire life. Tubridy.

My vote goes to Rick O'Shea or Dusty Rhodes (Roads?) Or whenever Cliff Walker makes his debut:p

I would have to second ruth Scott. she used to do breakfasts on Live95fm, the one that replaced her isnt exactly the best either. so get ready for another crap DJ hitting the national scene soon.

They're mostly bad, but worst in my opinion has to be Damian Farrelly on 2fm. He has the personality of a wet sponge and is as thick as a plank. And to add insult to injury he's up for best radio dj at the Meteors, I mean WTF?!

Ryan Tubridy is a radio presenter, not a DJ, there's a difference

They're all crap before night falls. Anyone with a jokey name (rick o'shea etc) should have a Shure 57 stuck with the sun don't shine.

    Mike.

    Mike.

A rode broadcaster may be a better fit.;)

At the risk of repeating myself I think Ms Scott is no more that a half decent presenter . There are much better presenters around.

The biggest problem with certain 'day shift' presenters in Ireland is that they are restricted by format and they are hired because of their 'offend nobody' personalities. Most are a bunch of crap.

What we need here is a Nick Abbot to wake up the dead that is the Irish radio audience.

Michael Cahill by a mile , I think they still have him on 2fm at the weekends

marty and sue on q102 in the morning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

Most presenters on Irish independent radio are restricted in how controversial they can be thanks to the stiff rules set out by the BCI. and if they get more than 4 complaints they are jumping up and down creating a stink. this is why irish radio is pretty boring in my opinion.

Gareth "I've just received this email" O'Callaghan. Thankfully the patronizing twat seems to have disappeared from 2FM.

Tony Fenton and his mid atlantic voice is really annoying

Nikki Hayes on 2fm is absolutely brutal. One of the most generic, bird-brained "personalities" you're ever likely to come across. Her attempts at "banter" with her callers are so forced and awkard it's actually difficult to listen to. And the way she spells her name warrants a good slap.

    marty in the morning.... :v:

Yeah, he is F**king brutal - I never listen to 2FM now in the mornings.

Anne Marie Kelly on Today FM gets my vote. I don't listen to that much radio, but if I do at night I listen to Today FM. Consequently my clock radio is set to the station and that godawful woman is often the first thing I hear in the morning. She seems incredibly popular with truck drivers though, for some reason.

On national radio it has to be Tony Fenton but our local radio station Tipp FM has the biggest twat ever on in the mornings, Aaron Burchill. Listen to him online some morning on www.tippfm.com .He does be on between 6 & 10, he's such a fool

    Hey Cucullan ,

Tell us what you do for a living and let us decide if your a fool or useless in your chosen profession.

Don't be so quick to talk folks down - Why don't you have a go at doing a few shows on TippFM and show us how easy it all is.

I hate to say it Andrew but we would be wasting our time trying to defend the business here. We have differed in the past ourselves, but let these 'listeners' have their opinion, for they only know how to turn on the radio, and not how to put together a show. I hope JNLR dont ask them anything!

Are you the same Andrew Looby who used to be on Tipp FM and now on Clare FM? In case you didn't notice the thread is about the worst DJ so just because someone says one of your buddies is useless doesn't mean you have to get all defensive. I know I'd be no good on the radio thats why I stayed off it, pity Burchill can't see how much of a twat he is on the radio and do us a favour and stay off it too.

Yes Cucullan I did work in TippFM and your welcome to your view but why don't you vote with your Dial - In other words if you don't like TippFM just switch Stations. The people who work in Radio work hard to entertain and its way too easy for folks to knock their efforts.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,914 ✭✭✭✭tbh

In fairness Andrew, this is a thread asking people for their WORST DJ ever - you kind of knew what you were getting when you read the thread. I'm sure all DJ's mentioned on this thread work equally as hard, but that doesn't mean we have to like them! Don't take it personally, I'm sure you have your likes and dislikes as well.
You could always vote with your mouse and move on to the next thread!!

Thats exacly what I do, I don't listen to Tipp fm until Seamus Martin comes on at 10 o clock and then its on all day while I'm at work. How many more people in Tipp do the same? Until then I listen to Today fm. 8 of us work in my area in work and we all have the same view about Burchill, the girl thats on with him would do a better job if she was allowed to do the show on her own.

Why do we need to know how to put together a show in order to have a valid opinion on what we like/dislike on the radio? Does the fact I've never been involved in producing a movie mean I can't have an opinion on films I see in the cinema too? As someone else said, your post is extremely patronising.

Also want to mention a certain other message board where a lot of radio insiders post. On there they think the likes of Tony Fenton are gods gift but mention his name to any normal listener under the age of about 35 and they'll break up laughing. His presentation style has become something of a national joke ("You're a WINNER" etc). I've nothing against the guy personally, but there seems to be a wide gap between what the professionals consider to be good and what we, the listening public, want to hear.
