No, and I'm not a happy bunny. It's the one play-off I really wanted to see.:( I'm surprised noe of the English or Irish channels are showing it because it's a huge game with plenty of Premiership players on view. I presume the Uruguayans were looking for too much for the tv rights.

would like to see this too. Hope the Aussies win as it would be good to see them qualify. Hope T&T do Bahrain as well!

If Aussies lose, I really feel the FAI will headhunt Hiddink as best they can...
If we cant get him, it'll probably be El Tel.

I can see the odds on Hiddink being slashed if Oz dont get through.

Hiddink is still with PSV isn't he? I think the Aussie job is more of a part time affair than the Irish job. I'd say it would cost a few bob to buy out his contract at PSV. I dread the thoughts of Venables or dare I say it Staunton. Future for Irish football is bleak imo.

Socceroos lose qualifier 1-0A goal to Dario Rodriguez from a diving header in the first half has given Uruguay a 1-0 win in the first leg of the World Cup qualifier in Montevideo.
The loss means the Socceroos' bid for a World Cup berth hangs on Wednesday night's match at Sydney's Telstra Stadium.
Despite dominating large passeges of the play early on, Australia was unable to find the back of the net before Uruguay scored at the 35-minute mark.
Dead ball specialist Alvaro Recoba created plenty of headaches for the Australians in defence before finding Rodriguez at the far post with the free kick that set up Uruguay's goal.
The Australians survived several near misses in defence late in the game as the Uruguayans went all out for a second goal.
Despite the loss there were promising signs for the Australians, who for the most part were able to counter the running attacks of the Uruguayans. Mark Viduka looked particularly dangerous in attack early on.
Scott Chipperfield and Tony Vidmar both received yellow cards; Harry Kewell struggled to have an impact.
Striker Diego Forlan was included in Uruguay's team. Forlan, who plays for Spanish club Villarreal, had been doubtful because of a hamstring injury.
But he was picked alongside Marcelo Zalayeta and Richard Morales in a three-man forward line as coach Jorge Fossati fielded an attacking line-up.

Final score 1-0 Uruguay. Sets it up nicely for the second leg. It better be on TV!

Can't see Australia having enough to win the second leg, but according to the papers here the Uruguayans are expecting to lose the away leg.

Oh, and they've nicked all of our songs. Que Sera Sera. Ole Ole Ole. Well, I suppose we dont need them.

Anyone else think it's really unfair that the Aussies top their group and still have to face a play-off against a South American Team?

Surely topping the Oceanic group should have an automatic qualification spot?
I know the standard of most of the Oceanic teams are poor, but they are as good imo as some of the African nations thay qualify automatically by topping thier respective groups...

Aren't Australia going to be part of the Asia zone for the next World Cup qualifying campaign?
Anyway, it's not all doom and gloom, the Aussies would surely fancy themselves to at least match the result on home turf.

er...no. Perhaps they should qualify first before talking about getting their own spot. Plus they're scumbags for beating up that poor island team 33-0 in the last qualifying campaign. No need for that. I watched the game on TV here in the US and they're lucky not to be down more than 1-0.

They do, and with good reason. Uruguay didn't win away from home in the SA Qualifiers.

Mosrt of the pundits are going for a 1-0 to Australia, and then to win on pens.

I'm just going to have a read of the paper now, see what they have to say today.

Am I right in saying that the second leg is on at 8am tomorrow morning?
Is it on the web or TV anywhere?

The program starts on SBS here at 19.00, which would be 08.00 Irish time, I don't think KO is straight away. The FFA website gives KO as 20.00 local time, which is 09.00 Irish.

It is being streamed on the FFA website

I tried www.theworldgame.com.au and www.footballaustralia.com.au and both links only work with Austrialian and UK addresses

Anyone know of anywhere else I can see this, or is there any way of fooling them into thinking I'm in the UK????
