:D Ha ha touche... I use touche at the end of most sentences and it annoys loads of people, but obviously I'm intentionally using it out of place cos I think its one of the best words ever! Anyone else have a favourite phrase?

i have to say some of my favourite annoying phrases are :

"G'wan ahead there and turn back"
    "Who's coat is that jacket,lads"
"Which was in here is out"
    -and-
"Yer some man for one man"

Best done with a strong rural accent :)
I also use touché quite a bit, out of place too! great word.

Havin de laugh abviously! Thank you for spotting my thread, I must've blinked when I was searching for it...

My other favourite thing to to is to let someone walk on, then call em back to me and when they get near, ask em how far do they think they would've got had I not called em back to answer this stupid question... black eye guaranteed every time!

I have a variation on this, which will annoy the hell out of anyone. Keep calling someone by their first name. When they respond with "what" just say "nothing". Then repeat as often as necessary.

    Yeah, it's overused...
    I'm starting to use "buddy".
Somehow, it sounds very threatning :v:
    "alrite buddy!!"

Just one of many culchie sayings.
I bloody hate when people inject 'like' into a sentance. or peopl you say ah or em after every second word

touche isnt a phrase its a word.

my wife says she is 'lifting the dinner'. Lifting it?

    'yer man' my man?

'like' is like the most stupedest thing you can say, every sentence like...

yeah I hate that faux-American stuff. "I was like, no way? and she's all Totally! and I'm there shuuut uuppppp"

Eh Love? You live in Ballybrack.

Speaking of Faux. (off-topic) I went to Griffith. I remember years ago, the Journalism students had a radio station, and would broadcast a few hours every day. I was listening one morning while driving into town, and some girl with a real dort accent was going on about Cher and a pair of Fox Crocodile boots. She must have mentioned it a thousand times. I was thinking "What the hell are fox crocodile boots??" You've guessed it - she meant 'faux'.

    TOOOOHHHHTAL morto, loike.

In what part of that did I refer to touche as being a phrase? In fact I think I quite clearly point out that it is in fact a word... but lets let bygones be bygones - actually I hate that phrase too!!

    answers on a postcard

    call someone who cares

well if thats what you are, what am i?

    talk to the hand

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,914 ✭✭✭✭tbh

I just thought of another one:

"You can't have your cake and eat it"

OF COURSE YOU CAN! you can't eat your cake and have it.

and "A bite to eat" and "A helping hand"

God I hate those phrases, I'm getting all annoyed now just thinking about them. And whats the deal with "Head over Heels"? I'm always head over heels.
