Someone pasted some winamp skins links on IRC last night, I started looking through them looking for nice ones that were also pretty functional, there are a hell of a lot of them about, so I thought people could post a picture of the skin they use here and maybe the name or a link?

Anyways, here's mine:

Hmmm, I didn't realise people actually used those pictorial ones, I think they look crap, and are a pain in the ass to use.

Also, Monty, could you remove the off-topic spam from Castaway and Elmarco? I'd like to keep this about the skins.

Yea most of them are mills but i just think that one looks pretty and has nice buttons etc :E

I like pictorial ones. I generally control Winamp using buttons on meh keyboard anyway, so it's style over substance

Called Yuna_Of_Final_Fantasy_X or something, I've two versions, this being the beter one, he other isn't as well aligned and the text is shíte. Called Ynua_Amp or someting.

The two best skins around at the moment are probably Ti H2O 6 Equilibrium and Nucleo_NLog_v102. Some of the Winamp3 skins look promising too....

Default skin on Winamp3 is sweet. Same kinda layout as 2.8 but new colours ect.

Winamp 3 would be nice if it didn't crash all the time, and if the MP3 decoder in it was anywhere near as good the decent quality Nitrane codecs in 2.8....

Oh, of course the other issue being that it's got Sonique syndrome - give skin designers an inch and they'll take a mile. They'll take all semblance of useful functionality, while they're at it.

The Nitrane in_mp3.dll decoder hasn't been used since v2.65

The new Fraunhofer based decoder has been in Winamp since v2.666, and is the exact same codec that is used in Winamp 3. Therefore they sound exactly the same. If there is a difference in sound then it is more likely due to some other incompatibility.

The base skin has the exact same interface as winamp 2.x. Also, it will be possible to use winamp 2.x skins on winamp 3, giving you the exact same functionality as you would have with Winamp2. At the end of the day, it's all a matter of personal taste.

Tried 3. Thought it was crap.
That medai browser or what ever the fluck it is is a waste of time.
2.x does the job for e, I won't be changing fora while

Those winamp 3 skins look NICE. Any idea when it's going to be finished? (I never use beta software for things like an mp3 player because the most important thing for me is that it doesn't crash every few minutes).

In fairness, it is a work in progress; as I understand it, you can't even play CDs on it yet (though I could be wrong on that score).

It looks pretty, hopefully it'll work as stably as Winamp 2.x when it is finally finished, and I believe it plays video now(?)

You are right - the current method of playing CD's with Winamp3 requires a workaround, involving tweaking the CD Reader plugin for Winamp 2.x It might have CD support in the next beta though.

Winamp3 uses the video codecs from Windows Media Player, so if it can play it Winamp should be able to play it too. Winamp2 had this capability too, albeit through the use of plugins.
