    Liverpool 0-0 Galatasary
    That the Pool out then?

If so, is it worth being in the UEFA cup if it was to take from their Premiership challenge?

UEFA Cup ???!!! I thought they were playing in the Champions League :)

No I think playing at that level against quality teams actually helps develop teams skill levels etc.

    Gandalf.

Meh, still a possibility of qualifying what with Barca & Roma drawing. We have to win now so the away games should be fairly open & attacking if nothing else.

    And BAH Heskey.

    Bah Owen, he was ****e

Bah Gerrard getting injured. Didn't even need to stretch for that ball!

I meant if they finish third in the group and are sent to the other "competition"
Sorry if you were being sarcastic:)

On a technical note, UEFA are ending the third place to UEFA Cup
    policy, rightly in my view.

As for the Pool, well they huffed and puffed, only Gallas' goalie
kept them in it really. They can still do it but if they do they'll surly have conceeded and scored fewer goals than any other side in the knockout stages.

I'd have played Littmanan before Gary MaC.

    Mike.

I'd have told Smicer to go home and stay there, then thrown Barros on. What better place/time for him to prove himself :]

It weas unfortunate that They didnt win, especially with the others drawing, but hell its open if they win next week and hope the others draw then its all to play for.Even if we were to go out in this round I wouldnt be to Gloom and Doom about it, its our first outing in the champions league, and have been drawn in argubly the toughest group in it atm.And as Gandalf said playing against teams of a high calibre is vital to improve, learn from mistakes etc.

That keeper they had was good as well unfortunatly, he made some tremendous saves in the game.

Oh and yes if I could make one complaint against Phil Thompson itd be... Litmanen! look there he is on the bench! put him on the damn pitch!

Without a doubt! What more does the man have to do to prove himself? He is a class act who has turned numerous games in our favour when he has come on as a substitute, I mean his vision and creativity are world renowned and that is exactly what we were missing during that dodgy patch a few weeks back.

Now that it looks like Gerrard could be out for the derby game against Everton and the next Gala' match surely he'll be given a run. I reckon he's more comfortable in midfield anyway, when he's put on up front he just drifts back there anyway.
I realise that we might lose some of the steel in midfield but imagine the damage that Owen and an in-form Heskey or even Anelka could do with that kind of service... frightening! but in a good way of course :)

Litmanen is world class, without a doubt. I thought he and Anelka were ineligible for the Champions League though...

When is Baros going to get his chance????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 96 ✭✭ramius

Gerrard's injury instnt to bad he will only miss the nect two games, liverpool's problem are that, they are negative, if gerrard and owen get the team is crap and they dont play the right players i.e. LITMANEN and baros.

Yes Anelka is ineligible because he played for PSG in the UEFA Cup but Litmanen is very much eligible.

The only player i think Anelka should be paired with is Litmanen, Anelka's an out and out finisher, Owen isn't a supplier and Heskey is incompetant.

That of course isn't to say Litmanen cant be paired with someone else

Steven Garrard is out for 3 weeks so thats plenty of time for Litmanan to stake a claim. I just hope he does, as I'd hate to e him go in frustration when he's the hier apparant to Jan Mobly and John Barnes in many ways.

    Mike.

Who cares bout the Scouse ****s? Man United is going to win both the Premiership and The Champions League.

    You are a Scouser,
    An ugly Scouser,
    You're only happy,
    On Giro day.
    Your mum's out thieving,
    Your dad's drug-dealing,
    So please don't take,
    My hubcaps,
    Away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

None of us are actually Scousers though.

I know... but you still support em... thats good enough for me.

In 2001 we all had a laugh,
When you won 3 cups you could buy in a caff,
So we'll you sing you a song to leave you in tears,
You've not won the league for 11 years.....
    11 years (FU<K ALL!)
    11 years (FU<K ALL!)
    11 years (FU<K ALL!)
    11 years (FU<K ALL!)

Not to mention there's probably about 5 real scousers in the whole Liverpool squad.

Oh and it was 5 cups last season.

Oh! Sorry! I guess they were too low profile to mention...

Go on list them out for me so I can have a good laugh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

Well the 3 you already know.

And then theres the time we beat Bayern in the Super Cup final and oh yea the time we whored Man Utd in the Charity Shield.

  • Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 12,742 Mod ✭✭✭✭cournioni

Those two don't count ya gob****e! They're friendly trophies!

Man United won the Intercontinental Cup but they did not count it as a TROPHY!

Those other three you won were hardly even what you would call competitive other than the FA Cup.

The European Super Cup is a competitive fixture. As is the Intercontinental Cup.

Actually they're not. This only happens if you come 3rd in the first group stage. If you dont come in the top 2 in the second group stage you are out of Europe.

As for Man Utd. they dont have a chance in hell of winning the Champions League, I really cant see anybody stopping Real Madrid.
