Which is better Pentium M or Centrino?

Ok, got a choice to make here. which is better performance between a Pentium M 1.60Ghz
or
Centrino 1.4?

Which is the better processor out of Centrino or Pentium M in general?

correct me if i'm wrong here folks but a Centrino IS a Pentium M chip, combined with an Intel motherboard and wireless card.

in which case the 1.6 is obviously faster than a 1.4.

No i dont believe you are wrong, it makes sense. One has a wireless functionality the other doesnt.

Methinks the OP means Celeron and not Centrino.

Celeron has a smaller cache than a Pentium chip so in real terms it operates slower even if it runs at the same clock speed. I think you're better off going for a Pentium M anyway since they are specifically designed for mobile platforms especially around the area of battery life. The Celeron is no different between desktop and laptop platforms so it might not be as battery friendly.

Yeah, Centrino is the whole package, not just the CPU.
