Chemical supply stores in Dublin

Are there any stores in Dublin that would sell the guts of a Hofman voltameter? Or at the least carbon rods and sulphuric acid? And would I need a special permit to buy the acid?

Carbon Rods - get them out of some old zinc carbon batteries - D cells / torch batteries.

If you know someone with an old car battery the acid in that would be strong enough for electrolysis.

At a guess you could use caustic soda (extrememly nasty stuff - burns from it can take months to heal and that soapy feeling from it is the oils in your skin being truned to soap Yuukkk )(but you can get it in B&Q) and Iron electrodes ??

And if you aren't an adult no chemical shop would sell you dangerous chemicals, and I'd guess that other chemicals could be notified to the Guards.

Would iron act as an inert electrode? Or would it not just rust really quick from all that oxygen being formed on it?

No idea , Mr Google might know.

This seems to suggest you could use epsom salts as the electrolyte
While it's not as corrosive as the above chemicals you do need to be careful !
- it's a laxative
