gotta say I love Ray. His voice cheers me up in the morning, kind of snaps me out of doziness and slams me into reality!! Think the show is great, it's honest and it's modern.. plus Ray is himself.. no bull at all. Oh and Jenny is great too. It's a nice team!!

JimJim on 104 strawberry often makes me smirk in the mornings, and that's no mean feat.

Ah c'mon lads lets face it the D'arcy we see in front of us in 2005 is a sham. The guy has got a severe case of "I wanna be just like Tommy Tiernen-itis"
He was grand back in the day because he came acoss as a gentle quite naive buffoon who enjoyed the company of socks and buttons and furry things. He done a section on skateboards once fro Jo Maxi and in a desperate attempt to fit in, he used the terms rad and cool repeatedly.Car crash TV at its best

Some may say i'm being harsh.I can hear you all now,
"ah leave him alone Pighead he was young back then,we all acted like fools when we were youngsters".
WRONG!The lad was in his late 20's for fcuk sake.Having to look up to Dustin The Turkey on the Den must have been a real kick in the balls. It must have hurt when the feathered star got more laughs.

But anyway apart from all that he was still likeable, but not no more.In the last 3-4 years he has mutated into Rayommy D'arciernan.Have you ever seen him interview Tommy Tiernan, you can almost hear the poo hit his underpants as he squirms and stutters out questions towards his hero.Watch Tommys first live DVD and I guarantee you you will notice plenty of Ray-isms on offer.
Ray,you've changed buddy.I want that gormless loveable fool back. :(

Ray is a legend. Since the Den until now and forever Please God. Waking up Friday mornings in college dying and listening into fix it Friday, O happy days.
Real humour not faked or planned. Gets everybody involved. Travels the country with his show. Laughs at all the other stupid jokes out there. Even said F*** on air today because he was giving the results of some pole or another that said cursing is good for leaving of steam. Because thats the kind of guy he is.
Tuberdy is a arrogent self indulgent P***k. All he does is laugh at his own Fraiser Krane jokes and pokes fun.

On a slightly different topic Ray wants people to text in if they would like a "Best Off" The Den DVD. I for one would love it. It would be my child hood on DVD.

Ohhhhhhhhh he's so cool..... I can't stand him, the thoughts of having to listen to him tomorrow make me sick.. If i plan it right i'll fall asleep before he starts n wake up in belfast just after he's done.. Here's hoping

He's not rude or obnoxious like Tubridy or Pat Kenny, but he's ferociously dull.

Frankly, I think all the mainstream DJ's are pretty dreadful. I prefer the off peak ones like Dave Fanning. Less bull**** competitions, phone ins and much better music.

edit: P.S. the only positive thing about Tubridy being on the radio is you don't have to look at his ugly mug.

I could never stand dave fanning until i saw him on your a star, he was class, took the p*** left right and centre, actually watched it a few times just to hear him making a mockerey of the whole thing and sticking up for the decent bands that were getting a hard time on it.

I like Ray tbh, he was great in the Den(just look at it now, for shame :( ), like his radio show when I get the chance to hear it.
A whole lot better than Ryan Tubridy anyway, I hate that guy.

Yes he is, You're finally getting the message

Do you think Tuberdy or Jerry Ryan would lower their high and mighty superior middle class view of themselves to say such a vulgarity. Never.
Only this week Ray is doing work for the multisurosis society of Ireland and trying to get a book of photo's of just one day from around the country together for the charity. His charty works are numerous and he manages to involve everyone in them and make them entertaining. What other show could even consider it. Legend of a show. Legend of a team.

Strawberry Alarm Clock on FM104 - only thing worth listening to in the morning.

And what is it with all the dull talkshows on almost every other station at 5/6pm? Drivetime people... like primetime hours on TV :)

Am I the only one who can't listen to Adrian Kennedy's talk show thing without getting extrEMELY frustrated? I just want to kill every single person who phones in to that show!

One of these days I'm gonna ring in...

I used to listen to it years ago when Chris Barry was still doing it. Never was too fond of Adrian. Turned it on for the first time in ages the other night about quarter to 1 and this girl was bemoning the fact that she can't find a "decent" guy.

Cue lots of texts to the show from lads offering to take her out if she <insert sexual act of choice here>. They rang 2 of em back - one of them sounded about 12 and the other refused to answer his mobile!

Then they played out on that godawful German kids song - snappy snappy snappy or whatever its called!

.. Looks like I haven't missed anything :D but the Strawberry Alarm Clock is usually entertaining (even if that bit this morning with the girl cutting up her cheatin fella's suits was staged I reckon)

    You are my polar opposite.

I hate everything about FM104 especially its unfunny crap Strawberry alarm cock. One of the girls in the office goes ballastic if you turn it off/down.

I like to listen to the Last Word when driving home and think Ray D'Arcy's show is class.

Yeah i hate fm104, all the stupid jingles, like the "fantastic five at five" or "10 hits played non stop" which they play in between every song.

Just play the freakin music. I suppose you do get to actually hear the audience they play for on the talk shows!!

Darcy is the only thing on in the daytime worth listening to anymore. Its not that hes brilliant or anything hes just the only thing approaching good on Irish daytime radio amongst the rubbish "comedy" on the strawberry alarm clock, the unbearable arrogance of Tubridy or just what a total and utter prick Gerry Ryan is.

Hate Ray D'arcy, mostly due to the fact that he was a prick to one of my friends when we were in primary school. My friends had wriiten a book in 6th class for a competition and it was best in the country or something.Anyway he went up to dublin and met Ray D'arcy whom was giving my friend the prize.Anyway my friend, being a little kid, was talking away to Ray D'arcy and D'arcy just got pised offf really fast, grabbed my friend by the collar and said stfu you little idiot.Nope not liking him.

Nothing against D'arcy personally...like most of you I grew up with him on TV, Den, BB Jungle, etc.

    But I hate the radio show, the "team" :rolleyes:, the txt cntnt, and I especially especially despise fix it f*cking Friday;
Jenny "Oooh look at me, I've got Google bookmarked and I'm going to use it! Quick! Phone me with your obscure question now!!....seriously just go away and pursue a career in data entry or something...

That aside as someone above mentioned the show is the best of a bad bunch when you are restricted to the Irish FM band....and I'd have to say that it's main reason in doing so well in it's timeslot, is for the lack of any real competetion in the mid morning slot....I mean given a choice between Ryan "I can't wait for my free bus pass" Tubridy and Gerry "I'm man enough to talk about my vasectomy ad nauseum" Ryan, I'd sooner listen to ambient white noise, traffic, screaming children or whatever the alternative was...

In conclussion, I don't mind Ray himself but I really can't see the attraction of his show or the "legendary" status it seems to have achieved on boards....I've also grown to dislike the fanboism that has grown up around it.

@OP...looks like it's mp3 player time....either that or murder your coworker and dump his body in a remote location.

The best analogy i can think of for Ray D'arcy is as nice affable individual, this carries the person a long way and people can identify with him. His fan base has grown with him for the den right through his radio career. I would struggle to say anything negative about him. He has been around a lot longer that Ryan Tubridy so comparsions are not that valid as RT is still ironing out the creases in his broadcasting style. Although a prevous poster said "Tubridy is the worst thing to happen to irish radio since that other knob end Gay Byrne." Now thats a complement if ever i heard one.
