More whingeing from Chorus

Last Saturday's Examiner had a report that Chorus were doubting Sky's legality in providing RTE channels, and should be made to apply for a special licence, and how Chorus have to pay a levy and Sky don't (blah blah blah).
And the old chestnut that Chorus have 250,000 subscribers (oh yeah), and that was the same number quoted years ago.
The article also said Chorus had 56 digital 'base stations' dotted around the country and 20,000 homes had now been connected to their digital service, whilst NTL had 10,000 homes connected.
Sky has 193,000 digital subs, and my favourite bit was Chorus aren't concerned about Sky's competition. Who is making these statements? Chorus are losing subscribers in alarming numbers. It would be VERY interesting to see the real figures.
It will all come out in the wash eventually.

I used to think that Chorus were mad when they still claimed 250,000 subscribers - the seemingly logical conclusion is that if Sky built to 193,000 subscribers then Chorus must have dropped.

However, having spoke to a few of my neighbours (and round here we all HAD Chorus and now HAVE Sky), many of them persist with Chorus - simply for the UK and Irish terrestrials, and possibly for the ability to record / watch different things simultaneously.

So, the question is not what Chorus subscription base is now - but what will it be by the end of this year (when Sky will have the terrestrial channels, hopefully, and have intrduced quattro LNB's etc.).

It will then be goodbye Chorus.
