I was once told that there is a 1000 year old pub in Ireland and it is still in use today. Can anyone verify this ? I was told Cromwell also stopped at it for a few beers while on his (bloody) conquest of Ireland. Im not sure about the Cromwell bit but I remember seeing something on TV about this old pub.

The oldest pub in Ireland is Seans Bar, Athlone. AD 900.

One presumes it had a different name then since nobody spoke English here in 1100.
