Usb pen drive problem

Guys/gals when I put my usb key (512Mb) into my comp it says its not formatted, and it then will not format it. Is it buggered or is there something I can do??

What OS you using? Have you tried this on more than one PC?

XP pro with sp2, didnt bother trying another pc, all my other usb stuff is working fine.(plug in xd card reader etc)
