    How does this sound?

1/2 blinds 100 MIN Buyin No Max Buyin.

To get started Ill need a list of 6 to 10 players to come in and start the game off and hopefully it will take off from there

good idea oscar, but dont you think there should be atleast some limit on the buy in?? Andy Black sat down at the big cash table with over 3k 2wks ago. how can u compare that to the 100 r maybe two hundred we could (me personally) sit down with. like to see NL cash. good idea

Great idea Oscar but like DocO I'd agree an upper limit would be advised as the game could get out of hand and have no reflection on the blinds. Most online sites with blinds of $1/$2 have a min buy-in of $40 and a max buy-in of $200 giving 100 big blinds. Given that this is a live game why not set the min at €100 as indicated but restrict the max at something like €400. A €400 max buy-in with blinds of 1/2 is sufficiently deep stacked to offer a considerable amount of play at any level and still gives players buying in for the min a fair game.
If the game develops and the big players want to bring more money to the table then you can open a 2/5 NL game with a 250 min buy-in and max of €1,000.

I honestly dont think anyone would sit in with more than 4/500 and as HJ pointed out a max buyin gives an unfair advantage to those that double up early, I sat down in the 25euro max buyin game in the Fitz last saturday, Marq had a stack of 300 and others had more than 100, its impossible to play against that this would mean new players could buyin according to the size of the game that particular night

Sounds great bohsman...And I agree, If u arrive late you wanna be able to buy in for a nice stack relative to what is on the table.
Which leads me to a question I have (not thread robbing honest)......Over the last 2 weeks have not played online...But I have played live about 4 times...In Merrion,Fitz and the one on angier street(cant remember name).,.

I have never doubled, trebled, and quadrupled up so much..Poker has never been so much fun and so easy...Lots of drunks..(drunker than me) and clueless punters..
My question is, Is it always like this???

Hi Oscar. Yes that's a fair point but I believe it would result in new players buying in for amounts covering the table. This could quickly get out of hand with players having over 1k at the table. This would therefore make it impossible for mid stake players to buy into the game for 200-300, amounts otherwise concurrent with blinds of 1/2.
It's not necessarily a bad thing that players who buy in from the start and build a large stack should have an advantage. After all, the other players should have a read on the player from having played or observed him/her for a period of time. Also by having a max buy-in there’s an advantage to getting the game started early and trying to build a large stack to cover the table at a later stage. It also gives everyone a potentially equal footing at the start of the game. Anyway that’s just my opinion, I believe that with a moderate max buy-in you’re likely to get more mid stake players willing to play and start a game as they won’t feel obliged to buy-in for amounts covering the table.
Regarding the €25 max buy-in game you speak of, is this a new game and what are the blinds? With a €25 max buy-in the blinds can’t be more than €0.10/0.25 but I didn’t think the Fitz had chips in such low denominations. Perhaps you meant that it’s a €25 min buy-in but in that case your statement of not being able to play against deep stacks with a restricted buy-in doesn’t make any sense. Would you be able to outline what are the normal cash games on offer in the Fitz and what nights they are normally played. Also could you indicate what the average buy-in to these games are?
    Many thanks

    Dr Collousus,
Oscar knows what he's talking about regarding the fitz's €25 cash game - he works there. Buy in is minimum €25, maximum €25, blinds are 50c 50c. you can buy in for as mch as you have already lost, ie your first two buy-ins are €25, then you can buy in for €50, then €100 and so on, exponentially.
I believe it would result in new players buying in for amounts covering the table. This could quickly get out of hand with players having over 1k at the table.

    3 things:
    1. Like Hector Said in a different thread the amount you buy in for is the amount of the effective buy at the table for your game, and therefore different for everyone in the game. I personally don't think that many people are going to sit into the game to cover everyone else. the more experienced and talented players mayber, but very few others.

2.It would be an absolutely fantastic game if most players had over 1k at the table. what exactly is wrong with this?

3.I don't think Oscar's idea for this game is to have a game that gently eases new players into NL cash games. Some serious players in dublin want to have a Good No Limit Cash Game. I say, fúck the newbies.

Some idiots will always sit into the game for the minimum amount, others will always buy in to cover the table. a happy medium will be occupied by the rest of the people.

capped buy-ins are for wusses that wouldn't survive a minute in a game like this.

The €25 cash game is on saturday afternoons around 6pm.

the other cash games in the fitz are as follows:

€50 min omaha only, blinds €1 €1, playey every night, often two games at weekends.
€100 min omaha only, blinds €2 €5, three or four nights a week, from friday at seven, most saturdays
€50 min Hold em only, blinds €1 €2, practically every night, often two games from thursday through saturday
€50 min Hold em/Omaha, blinds €1€1 omaha €1€2 holdem, the round of each game isn't as popular as it used to be, though still usually at least one game per night.

Cash games usually start between half eight and half nine any given night, with more springing up throughout the night as the interest lists grow.

for the €50 games, the average buy in is between €100 and €200. I personally think that sitting into these games with €50 is silly, €200 or more is optimal.

for the €100 game, you'll usually be comfartable with 2k in front of you. Usually.

Oh, and to get back on topic,

I'll play this game. I'll be buying in for one hundred and four euro and only be playing sklanksy's top ten.

I'll be buying in for 105 euro to cover Marq.

    DeV.

Thanks for that Marq. It's been a while since I was in the Fitz and wasn't aware of the 25€ game or it's stucture. Looks like a good inovative structure and a good place to get started. Is it PL or NL?
Last time I was in the Fitz it was really only the 50 ohama game and sometimes the 50 ohama/holdem games that were played. Good to hear the 50 holdem game is becoming popular. I'd agree that for blinds of €1/2 you'd really need around €200 as €50 only gives you 25 BBs.
Anyway I'd be interested in the €100 NL game.

Hmm I like the sounds of this game
I don't think there's a need for a max buy in though. It'd take too much away from the game. I don't see the need for the min buy in to be 100 you could leave it at 50 like most of the other games though.

As for the buy in, I think i'll buy in for 103 just so i don't have to take tom and marq's money all in one hand. it's nice to be nice ;P

Hmmmm could be a tough table but hey if Marq and Tom are there it should be ok :)

Anyone up for this on Friday or Saturday then? I assume Luke wouldnt have a problem assuming we get enough bodies?

If somebody is sitting in with that much to a 100 game it implies they can afford to lose a bit and so if you play against them correctly you should be able to turn this to your advantage.

Just tell me when Oscar and I'm there.

Sounds like a great idea, I'll be in on saturday night to play it if you get a game going. Then again, I'm always in on saturday night anyway, so no change there.

    Ill play any night

Definitely be playing this if it goes ahead. The pot limit cash games can get a little annoying when end up with 5 or 6 callers to the flop even when you raise as much as you can.

I dont see the point in having a max buy in. The more action the better it is for a solid player

Went Well! We got going at around 11 / 11.30pm
10 players - average stack was maybe €200
Oscar did by far the best out of any of us. Must have walked away at least €500 up.
Game was still going strong when i left at about 3am and looks like it'll be a regular event in future.
