I've been getting a problem with the PC starting to slow down... checked the task manager and the explorer.exe is using 99% of resources. reboot the machine and its fine again, for another while at least. Ran the AVG antivirus, nutin, ran Adaware and that only came up with one cookie since deleted, its starting to get annoyin at this stage.

    Any help plz....
system seems to have 30 other processes too

    Virus.
Explorer should use ~0% CPU time, thus, I surmise it has been tampered with in some way.
Make sure you have the latest definitions for AVG. Run a full scan with Ad-Aware, run Spybot as well for good measure.

Edit: I have 44 processes running on my machine. This has no relevance on system slowdown unless they are taking CPU time. Which most of mine aren't.

Run windows updates and get all the latest stuff. Also try running Spybot S&D, Microsoft Spyware and TD3.

Whwn the computer turns on. Ctrl+Alt+Del and end the explorer.exe and then say new processs and enter explorer.exe and will start fater. The get spybot and a trial xoftspy and upodate your AV and run then all again. Its a silly virus but left unchecked does caus hassle. Fixed my buddies computer which had your virus and it hasnt been the same even when i removed it.

If you kill the process and restart it the problem goes away but it will come back thats just a temp fix.

Does explorer only jump to 99% when you've been watching movies?

There is a problem with DivX codecs causing then explorer to jump up to 99%.
