Bad Beat/ Internet is fixed subforum please

What is meant by "we". If it in fact means "I", then to be honest, I don't care about your opinion.

A thread entitled "Aa V's A10" could quite easily have been one that posed a tactical problem or was enquiring for considered analysis of a hand. Karl most likely clicked on the thread expecting some such thing, it's not his fault that he had to read some drivellous whinging bad beat story.

I fully support Karl's idea. I think it's time we subdivided this forum for those that want to critically discuss poker and those who want to moan about it. I'm appealing to the moderators to at least consider this; the 1808 boards have a bad beat forum (it's mod'd by HJ!), and I think it would be a great idea here.

I think the main forum should be 'General' which can include bad beats, rants etc. rather than having a 'Bad Beat' Subforum.

It would be nice to have these 2 Subforums though:

'Theory & Tactics' - avoiding the word 'analysis' in the subforum title just in case someone wants to analyse why they lost to a 2 outer on the blah blah

'Tournaments' - for the advertisement *gasp*, arrangement and discussion of tourneys.

There seems to be more than enough content and traffic in both these areas to justify it.

I personally think the whole thing should be moved to Sport > Poker too...... I can but dream

I concur with the above, although I'd rather see the insignificant stuff in the sub-forums rather than the main forum. And for the moment, can people use the subject line to indicate what their post is about, like Waylander suggested in the other thread. If you're going to spam the forum, at least let people know you're doing it.

But if you're subscribed to the main forum, the dross in the sub-fora shows up as new posts in the user cp. A subscription to a gibbon-free subforum would mean only posts from there would show up.

Personally I don't think the forum is big enough to justify a subforum, but to deter the "My aces got cracked again, please hug me" morons I suggest changing their status from "Registered User" to something like "Turd Burglar", "No Talent Ass-Clown" or "Faeces Throwing Monkey"

That should be a sufficent deterrant for the "online poker is rigged" or "How did my Kings lose to JT?" idiots.

Three things in life are certain: death, taxes and bad beats in poker. Would probably be a very quiet forum if you cut out the stories. Personally, they don't bother me so much that I feel like whining about it - I can choose to read them or not.

I don't know what you guys are looking for, this small poker forum hardly warrants a sub-forum on the topic of poker.

jeez guys... calm the hell down... don't you think your been a bit hard on these 'Faeces Throwing Monkeys'. Are you telling me that you never posted a bad beat.. even when you were starting out. It takes a while to get used to poker, and initially it may be the only input that you have in these forums.... there are some regular whingers.. but so be it.... they're not idiots or morons nicky.... just whingers (or newbies)

I agree that it may be an option to have a tick box or something representing bad beat stories... ie like one of the smilies.... would have to be visible in the title though.

Think a sub-forum is the only way. Too many bad beat stories crowding the main page. Still I wouldn't be on here as much without them. Sure, you might learn something from the technical and tactical posts, but sometimes they can get really boring. Reading pages upon pages of odds and calculations can do your head in. I'm not back in fcuking maths class again!

You need to have the bad beats there to laugh at

Personally I think that bad beat stories and interent fixed stories should be locked and the posters warned similar to spammers

People should learn from hands they lose from not immediately put it down as a bad beat and go crying about it, if you post a hand and then put your thinking behind the hand and ask is there any other way you could have played it maybe making a suggestion yourself thats fine. But blaming the online company or the dealer/deck if youre playing live is just moronic

Yes you've posted quite a few haven't you.

In all seroiusness, I obviously think this is a good idea. I don't agree that the forum is too small to justify sub-fora, quite the opposite. These days, the forum is relatively large, with many new threads a day, and it's quite laborious a process sorting the wheat fro the chaff.

For starters you dont ask for forums here. I think a sub forum is a good idea but it would be more realistic to at least have the Mod rename threads that are of the nature you are all so alergic to. Changing them to "Bad Beat/Moan: " and the rest of the original thread title. Unfortunately I think Chris is not around as much and as such a second moderator would be my immediate request. I would be happy to do it of course

Ha ah that's rich. In that case you should have been warned at least a couple of times yourself.

I have no problem with bad beat stories, I usually enjoy reading them. Don't understand the drama they seem to be causing. Maybe you'd be better served pushing for a change to the poker forum charter: "Thou shalt not post a bad beat story".

I cant recall posting a bad beat story in a long time, sometimes I post hands but only if I feel I could have played it differently and want genuine advice
I dont come on saying heres proof the site is rigged etc

I don't mind a bad beat story as long as it is in some way obscure or interesting or there is some sort of tactical question built into it. But the majority of bad beat posts on this board are a complete waste of time. Every one I reading is 2 minutes of my life I will never get back.

I agree.. A bad beats forum would help. 1808 forum seems to work well that way.

Also, A "Tournaments In Ireland" Sub forum is neeed.. Just to group the information in one place.The Search facility generally gets you the info you want, but it would be nice to group all tournys with their buy in/structure/regular attendance etc noted in a structured way. Did Tom say Antes Up were going to do something?

If people agreed to title such posts as "Bad Beat/Moan:..." as someone suggested earlier I think everyone would be happy. Those who hate reading the stories could be forewarned and as such forearmed! Can't fault the odd bad beat story, very cathartic to post them, better than breaking your keyboard or kicking the wall...

I don't really care one way or another. What annoys me is always seeing comments like "ffs not another bad beat story" when someone new posts here. It smacks of ugly elitism.

We could just confine all 'bad beat' posts into the one sticky thread. There's nothing wrong with people wanting to say about their bad beats. In fairness, when you hang around poker tournaments it is all that most people want to talk about.

It can be interesting sometimes, and some people may get useful responses to their bad beat stories e.g. along the lines of "you could have avoided that being a bad beat, if you had played it in such-and-such a way".

Beginners do need to know that if you slowplay AA against 6 other players and let them see the flop, there is a chance that even 2-7o will make two-pair. That isn't a bad beat, it is bad play for letting all the other players into the game for free.

Don't think it should be put in a sub-forum. Just sticky the one thread and then warn that people who post pure 'bad beat' stories (without any redeeming characteristics) outside of that thread will be given a 24-hour / 1-week ban from the forum.

There's no need to be extreme and say that 'you must have XXXX level of poker knowledge to post here'. For example, there was a funny thread a while back by (I think) karlh where he got three straight flushes virtually in a row. That could fall into a 'good beat/spam' category, but it wasn't really, it was just an entertaining story. We're never going to be as serious as two-plus-two, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I agree with you Ardent, this should not be done to newish posters. But there are some people who have been round these fora for a while, who post up bad beat after bad beat. I think that is what most people are getting annoyed about.
