dell let you pay by bank draft if you can wait a few weeks for it to clear.
or give marx a ring if your in a arush..

    avoid dixons/currys/pcworl like the plague.

Ive heard bad things abiout dell , they seem good value until you add all the extra charges. Also I dont have a debit or credit card it has to be in cash. I am a really lazy ass too so I cant be bothered to go any futher than the city centre because I live near there. ALSO the pc has to be new, I really dont want a second hand one

    boscos album, eh? :)

you wont get cheaper than dell tbh,
    even with the extras,
just get one of the special deals they have on with no extras,
and a bank draft means you dont need any credit or debit casrd,
    marx are in clontarf..

Beyond 2000 on Chatham Row near Grafton Street are alright. I've bought stuff off them over the last few years and it's been good. They've some decent acer notebooks at fairly reasonable prices at the moment.

Good value? Only have cash? Head to your nearest supermarket.. Dunnes/Tesco/Aldi :)
Makes much more sense then spending over the odds in peats or maplins.

Most places will take a bank transfer, or money order, or bank draft or whatever. You may just have to do the order over the phone. I bought my first computer (A Dell) with a bank draft. As Kali points out, the lidl / dunnes / etc. computers are reasonably priced though.

Failing that you could just find someone you know with a credit card, find a computer that suits you online and give them the money for it so you can use their Credit Card to purchase online. Give them a couple of quid extra to cover interest and processing fees and away you go.

sony center is owned and run by peats, any prices there will be same as peats.

itDirect are on Parliament Street, near the corner of Dame Street, not far from Dublin Castle. When I was working in the area, I used to get components and media from them; prices are ok, better than Peats for example but you can do better on the Internet if you are willing to wait and can sort your credit card thing with someone.
The people working at itDirect know something but not always in depth, and they sometimes seem like they are trying to impress you or themselves with how much they know, rather than trying to actually help you. Sadly that is pretty common in the computer industry.
As mentioned, there are the supermarkets - saw one in Tescos the other day.

TBH if I were buying a PC now, I would take the time to research the spec, brands and supplier rather than just going out and buying one at the nearest shop. Right now it might not make any difference to you, ie you just want a PC. But once you have it for a while, you'll start to see where it might have been better - ie graphics card, memory, whatever it is you are making the most demands on. I'd say this is true even if you *think* that you won't make big demands on it; you can grow into and then out of a PC pretty quickly once you get used to using it a lot.
