about the end, dunno, couldn't he write a fake return address? it's not like he wanted "laptop" back?

I doubt, anything back happened to him, or maybe he hid, so nothing bad would happen to him, or maybe he got a threat from them?

oh and one thing, do you think it was the black guy? because they didn't say who was it, they said a black guy just signed for it and took it upstairs

The guy might have gotten his address from the websites he put up... pppowerbook.com or whatever.

That was a different package he signed for i think at that time, when he took it upstairs.

Rather disturbingly Jeff disappered, if this is true which i am sceptical it is brilliant pity the spys couldn't have seen the package arriving. If anyone is ever dealing with a situation like this post it on boards and lets scam the scammer

scammer deserved it, reminds me aswell of one of our boards user having the same problem when he was trying to sell his bike, i wonder what happened with his story.

Firstly i didnt read it all but was drawn to this by the typical eBay derisory remark. Which is unfounded. I sell on eBay and have alot of experience with customer support.

The chap who emailed customer support was obviously not trying to alert customer support to spoof mails/bogus urls. If you are not aware of spoofers and fake urls then you shouldnt be trading. But 9/10 people have some form of awareness about this massive fraud which definitely goes on all the time. Its publicised greatly.

This is not an eBay scam. And i dont know if you trade on ebay but if have at all you'll notice spoof icons and email address on the site to email you're suspected spoof email or url to.

If the customer service rep was informed of a bogus url/spoof mail then he would have requested it to be sent in headers and footers included. I know i have reported some. But it was purely a question about escrow. So the help page was sent and the help page gives you all the warnings about bogus urls and how to sign in to correct sites etc. Have a look - you may be surprised.

If you sell on eBay or buy you'll have an account registered to eBay. You will have the new features of 'my messages' in my eBay'. This is anti spoof and anti bogus sh-te as it uses the email forwarding system specific to ebay. This is all public domain stuff.

Your tabloid heading makes me sick as a member of the eBay community. u write off a company that works tirelessly to :

(a) Give hope to people - disabled and abled alike - level playing field.
-recent powerseller was a severly diabled chap who sold hearing aids and earns his living that way.
(b) Helps people get out of commuting and spend more family time
(c) Builds communities build on trust
(d) Actually listens to its community voice and makes a change

Every company has its issues but this, i can honestly say and i have worked in over 7 IT customer orinetated firms at a few differnent levels, this one seems to be on the ball and tireless.

You don't need to read the whole thing? Then why bother posting in the thread if you're not in posession of all the facts?
The thread title reads "Hilarious ebay scam story" and that's exactly what it is (which you might find out if you read it all)...in fact if you read on you'll find that eBay actually did do something about the complaint (though not initially).
The OP and the guys/gals in the story he links to do nothing to denegrate eBay as a company (come on, you've never had a cookie cutter reply to a mail you sent them?) and the actions of all involved in "scamming the scammer" should be applauded
