Hair dye gone a bit manky

I used "Sun In" a few weeks ago, but my hair is more ginger than blonde. It's not so bad that you have to wear a hat all the time, but I still want to sort it out. So now I need some advice. If I use one of the permanent hair dyes (clairol etc..) will the colour end up really weird because I've already used the sun in. I'd used the sun in stuff a few times before, it usually looks a bit ginger before eventually going blonde, but this time it's just stayed at that half ginger half blonde look.

Not too worried about actually using the hair dye, I've done it before, but I don't want it to end up looking worse than it already is. :( Maybe I'll have to dye it bright purple just to be sure :D

No way am I going to a barbers/hairdressers to get it sorted, I've been shaving my head for years and just letting it grown back. It would have to be a hairdressers i'd go to, and they probably charge a fortune.

    A little help??

    ah...Sun In...
I used that a few years ago and it was a bit disastrous, got highlights soon after to fix things up but i think bottle dye would be just as good. If you put Sun In all over your hair then its grand, but if you put it in in strands then, try to account for that with your clairol dye. Just a warning if you're going blonde, my hair goes a copper colour with clairol dyes, so maybe do the strand test, i never bother.

edit/ Im not being held responsible for any advice ive given, going wrong!!

Do it something dark, like black, and you shouldn't have a problem ;)

    Purple is good too, hehe

thanks for the advice, i reckon it's a case of hope for the best, and if it goes badly wrong then i'll just go for the mach 3 look ;)

I know someone who had the same problem and ended up with v.brassy hair, an excellent hair colour to tone the gingerness down is:
Boots own brand semi-permanent colour in Very Light Brown.

I decided to be brave and shave it altogether. There was a James Bond theme is one of the local nightclubs last night, I got many suggestions that I should go as blofeld /dr. evil :D
