Anybody know what P.P. and C.C. mean?

Looks like this might be a good board to ask this question. I've been asking parish priests and curates what is the meaning of the abbreviations, P.P. and C.C., and get the answers, "parish priest" and "Catholic curate" respectively, but they aren't really confident about the C.C. answer. The Catholic Encyclopedia says P.P. means "parochus" and C.C. means "curatus", but I don't think this is accurate because there seem to be two words abbreviated. (Granted, Latin abbreviations of plurals are often doubled words, so PP might stand for "parochi".)

I think the abbreviations are Latin, and that like V.F. which is Vicarius Foraneus in Latin and Vicar Forane in English, whatever the two words in Latin abbreviated P.P. or C.C. are, it is just dumb luck that "parish priest" fits P.P. I think "Catholic curate" might be a stab at the Latin for C.C. .
