I got into a discussion on-air tonight about fears and it suprised me how many people are afraid of the weirdest things. Even mine is kinda weird.
If i get up during the night i'm terrifed to look in a mirror in while its dark!
(I'll expect many a childish joke about this - "In case ya see yourself!")
The reason is that im afraid i'll see something move or someone behind me, that would well freak my out. So if i get up during the night i make sure i dont look in a mirror.... Sad i know but hey at least i have a reason lol So see there is method to my madness! What about you guys?

What are you afraid of? (Spiders/Mice and Stuff dont count proper intresting stuff)

The computer 'room' is downstairs off from the downstairs hall...to the left is the front door and the right is the kitchen with a window in direct alignment to the hall I walk into...I am scared sh**less to look out that window incase I see something.(in the night time off course). I always remember the scene from Signs were the alien walks by the window :o

Ever since i was a kid my ma used to tell me NEVER to look out the window if i heard a wailing noise because it was a banshee and if you were to look a banshee in the face it meant there was a death in the family, she swore blind to me she seen one in the 1960's and 3 months later her slightly older sister died(she was only 42 and in relatively good health) so ever since then ive taken notice of what she's said, people might say it's an old wives tale but i truly believe there is such a thing (ive heard so many stories about this) and no way on earth would i ever attempt to look out the window at nite if i heard what i thought was a banshee..i must stress im perfectly sober (and sane i may add) in case people think im takling the pi ss here

Thunder storms still scare the crap out of me. My heart beats a little faster and I get nervous. I know there's little chance of being struck by lightning (or is there?) but they still get to me. Suppose it's sort of a primal fear or something....

i'm afraid of feet, walking over bridges, most of the continent of asia, lifts, excessive body hair, farms, travelling by boat...
...driving, dublin traffic-esp being a pedestrian in Dublin, dead fish, clowns...

When I was small, dogs used to terrify me. Barking in my face, etc. Esp when I was coming home from school, a few dogs would circle me, barking.

Now, tho, me's big, so me has a "bring it on" / "make my day" attitude towards them. If one to close, I will kick it. The days of fearing them are over.

Fear is natural, everyone's afraid of something. You just need to conquer your fear.

    Bumblebees.
I hate flies in general, but the bumblebee is king! I leave all windows in the house open in summer, and yesterday, I was in the sitting room on my laptop, and this HUGE f**cker enters the living room - I jumped out of my skin! I tripped over the cable for the PC and bruised myself, and managed to make it to the door and slammed it behind me. Luckily, he found his own way out!!

Spiders scare me so much it's horrible.

Other than that I (this is gonna sound weird) have a fear of being afraid, and that I'll have no control of my actions because of this.

    nah. you're just a pussy :)

my main fear... that any children i may have in the future will have a high likelyhood of developing cancer (cancer runs rife in the male side of my family)

I used be terrified of fire. It started after I saw 'All Dogs Go to heaven' when I was about 3. I then began to associate Heaven with fire.....my Granny found this some what theologically confusing for some reason.....

I used to be scared sh1tless of the dark...slept with the door open and the hall light on. And when turning off my bedroom light, i always thought that "creatures" came alive during the darkness, so i had to do a running jump to my bed! :D They always came from under my bed, even though its one of those beds without any space under it... And if all of my skin wasnt covered by my covers, they'd eat that skin

It's amazing what people tell you when you're young and you go on to still believing it when older.

My Dad told us about the Banshee when younger and how he (or someone) saw one ontop of a house, brushing her hair and when he wnet into the house someone had died. Scared the bejaysus outta us.

If I ever see a comb on the ground, to this day I think its a Banshee's comb and have to cross the road!!

My phobia is Thunder and Lightning. You may laugh, but I think it's just as stupid to be afraid of little spiders, heights or the dark!!

Apparently when you are born you only have two fears - of falling and loud noises..
