I have indeed... at least what I remember of it before my eyes glazed over and I blacked out.
Really what I was wondering about was how big a pair of balls does one need to go into a network execs office and pitch such a concept.
It all seems so Bowfinger, having celebs make the show popular, while the people behind it are idiots with boring ideas.

I really think that this show's basis was styled on the "Happy Slapping" bullsh*t craze that is apparently sweeping the UK lately...seems a certain brand of idiot, armed with nothing more then their £500 video mobile and a disregard for society is the target audience.
Obviously a show like the one this stunt was pulled for, would attempt to appeal to that mindset...C4 execs are notoriously up for it when it comes to putting sh*te on the telly, especially if it's "new" and "now" and for the "youth"
Shaking hands with celebrities for as long as possible = kinda funny
Dousing them in mineral water = Meh

the interviewer looked like such a twat...well done tom-dealt with it really well. to even compare that to dennis pennis is an insult to the ginger bandit

Sounds like the new show will get thw can over this anyway. TBH alot of these shows have been going down the tubes for a while. Trigger Happy TV spent most of its time picking on old people and foreigners, easy targets and not very funny.

Yeah tom handled it perfectly, he made a great point to the prankster, that he gives his time to give an interview and this is what he gets,

    Well done to tom.

To echo the point made by many so far, I thought Tom Cruise came off very well in this piss poor attempt at humour. He could have gone down the screaming, shouting and having the guy dragged off road but instead he chose to be dignified and expose the half assed prankster for the utter waste of genetic material that he is.

I've come away with more respect for Tom Cruise while still reassured that Channel4 are below the bottom of the barrel.

Another reason why I think highly of Tom Cruise as a person.
He could have been a diva about it, but instead asked politely..

Fair play to him.. Max respect.

Yeah, I always liked Pennis, I remember in one show he was walking along the red carpet when a Hollywood moron spots Pennis with his camera crew in tow, sensing his 15 minutes of fame were nearly up, he walks right up to them virtually blocking the path.

Pennis: Hey man can you us a favour?
Cheesy Hollywood cleb eyeing the camera:Sure what’s that?
Pennis: Can you get outta the way?

    Er, that was Jeremy Irons.

Pitty he's a big scientologist freak... (Tom Cruise that is, not Irons)

Cant believe how Tom Cruise played it so cool.It was not humour. But as Dennis Pennis goes he was funny.

I remember him saying to Whoopi Goldberg "hey Whoopi,Dennis pennis of channel four, did you know you are so famous in the Uk that they named a cushion after you" :D

Man, that prankster was so bitchwhipped. It looks as if he's beginning to cry at the end, when he gets escorted away, if you watch his expression

Think the guy from Channel 4 was a dick. He never thought the thing through at all. Hats off to Tom Cruise i would have been over that barrier after the guy. Thought he handled very well and was very calm but it and as they say any publicity is good publicity.

    Nukem

Why is everyone on Cruises side for this!?!? bloody hell it was only a bit of water, not paint or acid or anything. It's as old as the "smell my flower" trick that's been around for eons. If Cruise can't see the funny side of this he's got no sense of humour whatsoever. And he's talking about bring assault charges!?!? WTF? Does he charge mother nature with assault when he gets wet if it rains? What if someone drives through a puddle when he's walking down the road.
He needs to get over himself and laugh it off.

I like Tom Cruise, smart, decent man. Not full of shìte like most celebrities.

Anybody else not able to get that video to work?

Dennis Pennis: "Hi Cher, I must say, you look a million dollars"
Cher: "Why, thank you very much!"
Dennis Pennis: "Is that how much it cost?"

Dennis Pennis: "Pierce, I have to say, I couldn't move out of my seat all through your movie"
Pierce Brosnan: "Thank you, did you enjoy it?"
Dennis Pennis: "No, some bugger put glue on my chair"

It was an entirely unfunny joke that he became the butt of. I don't blame him for not seeing the "funny side" as there wasn't one.

I have to agree with kenmc, the squirty water thing wasn't particularly new or subtle, but Tom Cruise showed to the world that he has no sense of humour whatsoever. Christ, he should just lighten up a bit!

I love people doing stuff like this because you get to see the real person behind the celebrity façade, and Tom Cruise came across as a jumped up little turd. I really expected him to start saying "do you know who i am?".

Its funny when your 6. At an inappropriate time, its just annoying.

I think Cruise was mainly annoyed because he gave him the time of day, was having a frank discussion about the movie, and he pulls a childish prank. Initially he laughed and then he realised that the "chat" was just BS. As a professional actor, and hes pretty serious about what he does, hes takes that as personal affront.

As others already said, he could have sprayed anything, and it will make actors think twice before engaging with the crowd. Theres too many weirdo's around. Its a shame. But every action has a reaction.

If it was a beach party, or some other event then it might have been different.

I think it was the way the prank was executed, comedy is all about timing.
The interviewer asks a question, lets Cruise ramble on for ages then squirts him, stands there and says nothing. Very poorly executed.

    A better scenario would be:
Ch4: "Hi Tom, so did ya bring a towel today?"
    TC: "A towel, why?"
    Squirt, Squirt, Squirt
    Ch4: "Thats Why"
    TC "What the?"
    Squirt, Squirt, Squirt
Ch4: "Ha Ha Ha, thanks Tom, *Hands Him A Towel*, were from candid camera etc etc"

He actually laughed initally. Not sure where u get "jumped up little turd" out of the whole thing. Luckily u and Ken can keep the worlds sense of humor alive between the two of you coz obviously the rest of us have lost it.
