I don't know! Yer average TV audience must be reaching a new low when you have waterpistol celebs to get ratings. Didn't like TC much before this but I'm impressed he reacted as he did. The smartalec who sprayed him just came off like a complete fool when Cruise brought him to task.

That's what you get in a culture as dumbed down as ours.

The "prankster" should be ashamed for being associated with such a lame joke..

I think Cruise acted as well as he could in the situation.

Tom definitely came off best in the exchange. The squirter was made to look like a total asshole.

When I first heard about this I thought to myself, "Good, it's about time somebody brought this publicity seeking short arsé down to earth!!"

But having seen the clip, they guy who done it was well out of order. The fact that he was interviewing him for a bit and then squirted him was just pointless. If he was going to do it he should of just done it straight away. I thought TC came across quite dignified considering he could've been a real diva about the whole thing. However, he's still an attention seeking media whóre!!!

    B.

i think it was terrible considering tom cruise is a great person for doing the red carpet thing. he loves to talk to his fans on the carpet and even talks to them on mobiles! they said he invented the long walk on the carpet. this just ruins it for the fans but he did handle it so well.

i agree. tom cruise always says hello to fans and spends time talking to people whenever he is in that situation.

squirting water in someones face is not a joke or a prank, and doing it to a celeb can be very bad for you bank balance.

sounds almost as unamusing as dennis pennis

wtf? It wouldn't have been funny even if he did have a laugh about it. Squirting people in the face with water is pretty crap comedy. Well done to TC though.

What? Dennis Pennis was brilliant! This, this was just crap.

I watched the clip and Tom Cruise did react well. I just happened to be watching Risky Business earlier, one of his early movies, and I really enjoyed it.

That is funny....fair play to Cruise though, he kept the whole thing dignified and really made the prankster look stupid.

    Great stuff.

Yeah, I always liked Pennis, I remember in one show he was walking along the red carpet when a Hollywood moron spots Pennis with his camera crew in tow, sensing his 15 minutes of fame were nearly up, he walks right up to them virtually blocking the path.

Pennis: Hey man can you us a favour?
Cheesy Hollywood cleb eyeing the camera:Sure what’s that?
Pennis: Can you get outta the way?

Yeah Cruise kept his cool and the reporter looked like a donkey, remember a few yrs back when British Labour MP John Prescott got egged and threw a few punches at his "attacker" that was funny pity Cruise didn't react like that, that would have made great "reality tv". I bet if it was Russel Crowe he'd have reacted differently !

It kind of makes me like TC about 2% more now, bringing his total celeb rating to 2%.

But remember, he's still a Scientologist!

Mission Impossible 3 should bring things back into balance

I think Tom would have taken it better had he not spent the last few minutes in interview with him. The least the guy could have done was ask a question Tom could never get right and spray him as punishment. I think he was nervous or something.

    To Demi Moore:
‘If it was non-gratuitous and tasteful ... would you ever consider keeping your clothes on in a movie?’ < not sure if these were the exact words

As far as "pranks" go this was pretty pointless and so not funny, I'm not sure what the makers were thinking when they cam up with this idea... I cringed a little at his use of the word "jerk" tho. It's seriously such a bad slag even tho he was probably watching his language.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,773 ✭✭✭Binomate

I'm sure he'd have wanted to have used a stronger insult but he was in front of the worlds media. It would have generated a lot of bad media and a lot of bad press which isn't exactly what you need at the premier of a film.

I'm not sure what the makers were thinking when they cam up with this idea...
Yeah I was just talking to someone about that earlier... I wonder what their pitch to C4 was like... "ok, so like we find celebs, and squirt them with water... and watch them freak out... whatd'ya think?"
Fair play to Tom, he handled it great IMO... "No, don't run away." - brilliant.
Made the water squirting man look like a completely ignorant arse, and rightly so.

I wonder will they still be able to use that footage though?
Would TC have to sign a release for them to use it?
It's already been all over the news, I wonder how that effects it.
And since the guys were arrested for it, isn't it now footage of a crime?

It's a pitty they didn't show the Sharon Ozbourne incident they also mentioned.

I take it you haven't seen the likes of Banzai then...
No doubt it was some lame attempt at copying that type of format...any channel that can host BB for 6 years will stoop to any level for "entertainment".

Now real entertainment would've been squirting Mr Cruise with a highly corrosive substance...

I have indeed... at least what I remember of it before my eyes glazed over and I blacked out.
Really what I was wondering about was how big a pair of balls does one need to go into a network execs office and pitch such a concept.
It all seems so Bowfinger, having celebs make the show popular, while the people behind it are idiots with boring ideas.
