Question about PcAnywhere

Is there any way of finding out if an admin has remotely logged using pc-anywhere.. basically is it possible for a user to find out if they are being watched by *bigbrother*??

Im not a windoze fan, but it must be logged somewhere

Win 2k/Win NT try the Event Viewer..

Maybe search for text files within the PC Anywhere folder, some sort of log files...

But if the admin is watching, they won't want to see people playing with tools like netstat, will they?

What you'd want is a little app that runs netstat every few seconds (or uses api calls to do the same) and see if there are any connections listed for the pcanywhere port. If it finds any, it would do something discreet like change the top-left pixel white, or flash it.. something like that. I remember finding a cheat for minesweeper that did that to tell you if there was a mine there or not.

Under European law it is illegal to spy on the users machine without the knowledge of the person using it (including in companies).

It was on the news here as some US companies were p!ssed that they had to conform to EU law if they ran remotely from the US.

Get something like ZoneAlarm that locks up the PC-Anywhere port. Or do a netstat. Lastly you could go into the registry and look for the program on start up or if it's NT disable the service.
