Mpg to divx/xvid

    What's the best app to do this with? I have some mpgs that I'd like to be able to watch on my set top divx player.

    AutoGK should be able to do it (note thats it bundled with spyware these days - relatively harmless but spyware all the same. easily removed too)

    I normally use Virtualdub, or Virtualdub mod to convert mpg to xvid. I thought most DVD players will play mpg files though. Just burn the mpgs to a CD/DVD and play away.

    As far as i'm aware 90%+ of dvd/divx players will play normal MPG's. But if you really want to convert em, AutoGknot should do it.

    ffmpeg is by far the best tool I've ever used for this - lightning fast with excellent quality.

    I didn't even consider trying it as mpg on the dvd player. I'll give it a bash tonight. that'd be a lot easier than converting it :)

    Nero does all the conversion for you. Dead quick too!
