It sounds like you've made the classic mistake of trying to reason with someone who is completely ignorant and unreasonable.

Direct action is the only way to get through to that sort. She must have some items that are valuable to her, next time you are woken up destroy some of them and explain that similar accidents will happen every time you are woken up by her. If the radio is on then without a word go in, grab it and sling it out the window.

A few years ago I had neighbours who used to regularly make a racket all day and night long, reasoning had no effect so I borrowed a friend's high-powered amp and speakers set the PC on shuffle with a selection of incredibly annoying sounds with random silent tracks and went away for a few days. Never heard another noise from their house for a long time.

i know this is probably not the ideal solution and kind of admits defeat but could you not stay with someone else for the few days left in your exams, what about staying home with your parents for a few days, they would understand in the circumstances. you could get some work done

Fix the problem, screw the politics. You need to study and sleep, not waste your time arguing with her or posting on boards.
I haven't bought earplugs cos my other flatmate has some and she says they're dead uncomfortable. Also I'd be afraid of not hearing my alarm and oversleeping, would the earplugs not block the alarm out?
Try the foam ones, they block out backround noise (radio, talking) not sudden noise (alarm, blood curdling screams).

Go back down to the person in charge of the accommodation and just freak at them! Tell them to do something about this crap and sort it out now.

You should also just freak at that bitch as well who's keeping you up late. You should get together with the rest of your flatmates, and when that ho-bag is trying to sleep or is in her room during the day, you put some really awful music on your speakers and turn it up full blast - actually, the sound of white noise would probably drive her demented. And leave it on!

I've gotten so sick and tired of my flatmates making noise, that I have almost gone insane! There are four of us in the apartment - two girls on Erasmus (foreign exchange thing), another Irish girl and me.

One of the Erasmus girls is really quiet, she's really nice. As for the other one, oh dear lord, she's such a stuck up cow! She swans around likes a princess, never cleans up the kitchen up after her (she washes her dishes but if she makes a mess on the work-top, she won't clean it), she was throwing parties all the time, but then I reported it, and they said they'd fine her if she was reported again.

The other girl is a bit weird. She turns her music up full blast and also her TV, I'm telling you, her TV is so loud that I can hear it crystal clear in my room, she is not deaf - how could she have that TV up so loud, oh my god, she's just a pain! She's quietened down over the weekend, think she's gone home or something, thanks be to god.

Do the accommodation people have fines for complaints, etc? Maybe that'd make her shut up if she was fined €100 everytime she made noise. Also, if you aren't allowed to have guests after midnight, she could probably get fined for that too!

I'd be weary of getting earplugs, in case I didn't hear my alarm clock. In my case - I am a very heavy sleeper so if I got earplugs, I might sleep out!

What if you were to take sleeping pills? Most of them will knock you out for like 6-8 hours. I'm not too familiar with them, I have asthma and can't take them, but I have friends who swear by them during finals. They too need a full night of sleep to do decently and say that the pills give them a deeper sleep than usual. Not sure if they'd help you but thought I'd pass this along. Apparently, the administration isn't going to help you, so you must find different ideas to get you the most sleep. Have you checked online for ways light sleepers can get a deeper sleep? Hopefully the girl won't be with you much longer. Hope this helps

I have no advice to offer at all but have to say the replies to this thread have to be the most universally sympathetic to the OP that I've ever seen on boards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you get it and her sorted!
