Schroedinger wrote a book during his time at TCD, what is it called?

What is Life? The Physical Aspect of the Living Cell (Cambridge, 1944)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

A small clue for it, Crick and Watson both cited it as an influence in their decision to determine the structure of DNA

Yes. In the book there's a passage about what characteristics the (then unknown) molecule involved in passing on genes would have. It was thrilling stuff for Watson and Crick.

    Next question!

I had a rather large grin on my face while reading through the last 7 pages of this thread and its original. Am a bit pissed off that the first one was shut down, granted there was stupidity but methinks a simple warning would have sufficed.

I call the content of these threads "college knowledge", constitutionally defined as "..knowledge pertaining to the University of Dublin ... [including] the College's architectural, cultural, historical, institutional and legal elements, its actors and its guests".

Why constitutionally defined, you ask? Because myself and a few of my friends are trying to set up a CSC recognised society, The Trinity College Knowledge Society. Our first application was rejected, but we shall try again! I'm delighted that loads of people are also interested in it, and I'm scared at how many of the questions I know. Let's just hope the wonderful CSC Exec will recognise it.

To clarify Kevin's point, I was informed by a C.U. employee (essentially) that the C.U. was the third oldest society in college. Seems this wasn't true, but I shall ask him for evidence, as it's not unlikely.

Assuming I can skip the "Who does what?" question, how many students had the college originally?

Three. Henry Lee, William Daniell and Stephen White.

    Question:

Find the CSC Honorary Treasurer, and hence his real name, on peoplefinder.

Oh yes he is on peoplefinder.

Sorry, I apologise. Didn't realise that was your answer to the question.

It's now Kevin's question. WRT my question, look up students on peoplefinder. There is a guy in his 6th year of a PhD named Donal Joseph O'Gorman. Am told that's yer man.

Damn can't really think of any questions.

How many lucky people were awarded "schols" this year on Trinity monday 2005. I'm not going to get technical, you know what i mean.
