Sort of epithath - I used to want to have an Oak tree growing from my grave, so that the tree could become my legacy...sort of in the Wuthering Heights stile...then I realised that I would have to be cremated to do that...

To be honest, I would love that my gravestone to say that I was a loving daughter and good sister and if I live long enough a loving wife and mother (am neither yet) (sorry for being boaring here)...

My daddy and I used to look around gravestones when I was a little girl and there was one gravestone that used to get us about a father that died of a broken heart 6 months after his 12 year old daughter died...it still gets to me.

I actually wanted this for a few years...that is what I get for hanging around graveyards with my daddy when I was a kid, no wonder my knickname was Morticia :)

Funny last liner would be from Monty Python:
"pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'cause there's bugger-all down here on earth!"

    Something like the infamous:

    1milltion.jpg

    or

    connection reset by peer

    /edit

Tho what would be pretty nifty would be a recording of myself saying something or order to whomeever may be missing me whilst I'm busy being dead. To be activated by pressing a button or sommat. Not motion activated - no point the rabbits and birds ****ting on my grave to be scared off.

    why do owlpairs do that.

Bring young children to grave yards to read the headstones.

Your five years old and full of beans and naievity...and its like...here look at all the DEAD PEOPLE.

I think my epitaph would be a map to all the other gravestones that people are looking for. Cos its a bollix to find my uncles grave in Mount Argus.

    Helpful to the end me.

    None, I'd rather be cremated.

    "Do Not Disturb"

    or

"Do not stand by my grave and weep,
I am not here, I do not sleep"

    "Woah"

    "Atari Jaguar"

    or

"I cam, i saw, i posed for the photo"

i saw one once that really stuck with me , it was a husband and wife, 2 rings connected and below it on one side "I love you most" and on the other side " I Love you most too" . seemed like a sort of in joke between the 2 of them and i found it very poignant .

or as an alternative to being buried i might get someone to sing this while they chuck me off a boat

    "Blues all on the ocean, blues all in the air;
Can't stay here no longer, I have no steamship fare.
    When my earthly trials are over, cast my body out to sea;
Save on the undertakers bills-- let the mermaids flirt with me!"

and the rest of the song of course

Seen this one on a gravestone once and thought I'd like it on mine. The gravestone it was on said it was by unknown:

Remember man as you pass by
    as you are now
    so once was I
    as I am now
    so you will be
    prepare for death
    and follow me.

hmmmm well I liked it anyway :D

"The person you are mourning is using eircom's prayer waiting, and knows that your heart is hurting. Please hold while we try to connect you."[/eircom guy]
I hate eircom guy! The only consolation I have in the face of his mock-sympathetic tone is the knowledge that anyone who tries to call him must immediately hang up every time he answers his home phone. Heh.

There's a monks buriel room in Rome. The room has the monks actual skeletons dangling from the ceiling and all their skulls stacked up and a sign saying "What you are now we once were."

    To quote my favourite movie:

"I've always had this fantasy that someone beautiful and tearful will insist on "You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me" by Gladys Knight (but I can't imagine who that beautiful, tearful person will be)"

But seriously, I've always wanted to be cremated and my ashes scattered out to see, maybe a little bench errected overlooking the point where my ash's were scattered for people to sit on and watch the waves while contemplating their own lives would be nice too.

Seeing as no one has mentioned it,

    "Never Dig your own Grave"

"Here Lies Megatron, the last human to taste a Pan Galactic Gargleblaster"

"I'm Not dead, I'm sleeping , Stupid Mortals".
