Is my naive assumption that Mary o rourke is the main reason that broadband and communications in this country are so messed up, valid?

There's no real main reason. Mary O'Rourke was certainly a factor, and a big one (pardon), but she was by no means fully responsible. I still think she's a waste of oxygen though.

Yes. Of course there's always the possibility that Mary didn't do it alone, e.g. there may have been people in the background directing her.
