    Hello all..

I'm a newbie to all this so pardon the general nature of the questions asked. Feel free to follow up with specific questions and i'll try and answer them to the best of my knowledge.

Is there a specific OpenLDAP to run under Mandrake Linux or should i just use the general release from OpenLDAP.org?

Also.. has anyone ever had any bad experiences when installing it? I need to install it to a server and i want to make sure in advance i won't run the risk of crashing it.... as it's full of critical need-to-know information.

    Thanks in advance!

Use the general release. You'll probably have to compile it; be sure to get appropriate libraries for the features you need. No real chance of crashing your server; Linux (and non-Windows in general) machines tend not to do this. OpenLDAP is a bloody pain in the neck to configure tho; enjoy :D

    Cheers for that!

I think i saw in the installation notes for the general release that if you use the configure shell script, it will attempt to guess correct values for various system-dependent variables used during compilation.

Probably won't be that accurate.. will give it a go anyways.

    Thanks again!
