Hi lads, Been doing this folding crack for a month or so with these two pcs here, tried Seti for a 1000 or more units so i'm here for at least that long. 50 odd or more but they take 20 or more hours. Is there any text only console folding proggie like there is for SETI. The Seti GUI proggie used to take 15 hours to complete one unit, the Text proggie completes in bout 3 1/2 hours.

I was wondering having not read this post before how all those others passed my rank, so easily, I thought it was a fault with my systems here that they were not competing the units in time. Now I know it was all down to multiple PCs I dont feel half so bad :)

    Count me in.

I typed in the team number, so i assume that means i've joined the team... If not, tell me quick :p

EDIT: Is it usual for a workunit to take 41 days on an AMD xp 2500+?

you could have just gotten a big one, longest anyone i've gotten is ~3/4 days though

Yeah, i think theres a problem with the GUI version (for me anyway). It kept giving me VPU Recovery errors, and was reporting that it'd take 41 days to do the unit.

I switched to the console version, and everythings ok, and i'm 27% of the way through. At this rate, it should take another day or two to complete.

lads... we need more active users, yet again our team stats were overtaken by a group with 51 active users, how can we ever get into the 200+ team stats with the production of so little units....

    Johnny No5: NEED MORE INPUUUUT

This PC is a P4 2GHz the other Pc i just started to run is a AMD 2500+ 1.83ghz i believe.

dropped a few thousand production points over the last week, where has everyone got to?

    link to latest stats....

I've had to stop it on my main machine as it was getting a bit too hot. The CPU temp has now dropped 16°C. Until I sort out a better cooling system, my main PC won't be contributing anymore work units I’m afraid.

    BUMP!

We need to keep at it lads, there's quite a few teams edging closer to us.
    Overtakes

Also, to keep this thread alive, let's all refresh what machines we have folding...

I've got an Athlon64 3500+ (0.13) @ 2.4Ghz going pretty much 24/7 here, but it's also my main gaming rig as well as the one I use for university work.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,943 ✭✭✭Mutant_Fruit

I've got my 2500+ (unoverclocked due to unidentified issues involving spontaenous turning off). running pretty much 24x7. And a 1.7ghz centrino laptop has just started that runs whenever its plugged into AC power. 2megs of cache goodnesss. :p

    Cmon people, WORK! :p

    XP2100 @2.3GHz 12hours a day
    XP1900 24*7
    Me brothers XP2500 24*7
and soon to be a A64 3000 at about 2.3 or 2.4 cant remember what it overclocks to.

    Cronan.
I hope to overtake you when I get me systems running right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 812 ✭✭✭neGev

I'd imagine you will alright. The annoying thing is I have an old Athlon XP 1900 rig sitting here, but no hard drives to put in it so I can't even leave it running F@H.

neGev u might want to change that thing u have in your sig cause its white and i'm not sure about other people but i cant see what it says.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 812 ✭✭✭neGev

Yeah, it's a bit awkward alright. Roughly half the boards users (including myself) are using the Cloud skin, which is black/gray. It's hard to suit both camps, but I'll have a bit of a fiddle about with it.
    Cheers

    Edit: Fixed... o_0

yeah I'm after locating a couple of extra machines, old they maybe, but working on units now, should have the first few extra units done in two days. gonna pass you out again!!!
    :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,775 ✭✭✭JohnK

I've had to take it off another machine recently but I might be able to put it back on in a few days. Unfortunatly, its a crap machine so it won't really do anything (450mhz or somthing). I currently have 2*1.7ghz machines running it but one of those will probably have to stop soon. Its beginning to worry me that its constantly at 69c.

Any chance you could just stick a decent and cheap HSF on it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,775 ✭✭✭JohnK

I've already got a fancy ThermalRight HS with a 120mm fan sitting on it but the machine is in a very warm room and I have nowhere else to put it :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 812 ✭✭✭neGev

    Step 1. Purchase strong rope.
Step 2. Attach said rope to a solid, heavy object in warm room.
Step 3. Attach othe end of said rope to computer.
    Step 4. Open window.
Step 5. Place computer out the window, dangling from the rope.

    Foolproof I tell thee!

    hello all,

I've just started the client on a few of my spare machines.
I guess I'll show up in the stats in a day or two.
I (think) the work units will go to team boards.

Depending how it goes I'll set some more idle machines working on it.
